There's Still A Light In The House

There's something about her and there's something about it
There's a million ways to pass the day on a concrete island
We try to get past it, just stuck in the traffic
Swing your conscience, pull the lever
Maybe talking's not the feature
(There's still a light in the house)
I'd like to call you on the way home
Another precious call to waste on my mouth
My chance is tugging me by the shoulder
But there's no one home to let you in or let me out
(There's still a light in the house)
It's such a waste to watch you slide out in the hallway
And break down in the housing on the street end apartment
We share a ride 'cause you're alone and in the same clothes
With the blur of the tunnel and the blur of the mirror
Swing your conscience, pull the lever
Maybe talking's not the feature
(There's still a light in the house)
I'd like to call you on the way home
Another precious call to waste on my mouth
My chance is tugging me by the shoulder
But there's no one home to let you in or let me out
(There's still a light in the house)
When she cries, she brings a storm in
I kinda like the way it pours
3 o'clock I'm callin' Anna
She's telling me, "C'mon, move on"
In the Brooklyn light, we're just passer-bys
Her hands on my shoulder, it all feels right
'Cause you found me there with your new cut hair
"Is it New York? Or Heaven?"
"I can't think twice now"
In the first verse of Valley's song "There's Still A Light In The House," the singer describes encountering a woman in New York's Chelsea Market. He notes that there is something about her that interests him, and that despite being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city, they are both simply stuck in traffic. In the chorus, the line "there's still a light in the house" serves as a metaphor for hope during difficult times, implying that even when things feel bleak or confusing, there is still a glimmer of light that can guide us forward. The second verse touches on feelings of missed connections and missed opportunities. The singer feels a desire to call someone on his way home, but fears wasting their time or his own, and also seems to regret not being able to connect with the person who has just left his company. As the song progresses, the singer describes a sense of comfort and connection with someone named Anna, who encourages him to "move on" and not dwell on the past.
Overall, "There's Still A Light In The House" presents a complex portrait of human connection and the struggle to navigate relationships amidst the chaos of modern life. The song's lyrics imply a sense of unease and disorientation, but also offer hope for the future and the possibility of finding comfort and support in unexpected places.
