History (unofficial version)
The group was formed in 1996 by Alexander Bard and Anders Wollbeck.
The history of the group can be divided into two distinct parts: before the departure of the group's leader Alexander Bard in 1999 and after his departure, since which the singer Mattias Lindblom has become the group's new leader. The first two full albums of 1997 and 1998 were characterized by classical music influences and socially-, politically- and even astronomically-themed lyrics, which are very unusual for synth pop music; the 2004 album "Your Whole Life Is Leading Up to This", written by Wollbeck/Lindblom, steered away from synth pop to trance/techno and personal lyrics dealing with love and the meaning of life.

The lyrics of "Nuclear India" by Vacuum depict themes of national pride, technological advancement, and ambition. The song speaks specifically of the pride that India takes in its nuclear energy program and the individuals who work to maintain it. The first verse refers to "TROMBAY," which is a location in India where the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is located. BARC is responsible for India's nuclear energy program, and the lyrics suggest that those who work there have a strong sense of desire and pride in the work that they do. The phrase "design extropica" suggests that India is creating something truly unique and futuristic in its advancements in nuclear energy.
The chorus of the song is triumphant and awe-inspiring, describing the immense power and beauty of nuclear energy. The phrase "when the gods come down" could refer to the power of nuclear energy being akin to that of a higher power. The lyrics suggest that controlling the power of nuclear energy is a great feat that inspires awe and admiration.
The second verse references Homi Bhabha, the founder of BARC and one of the pioneers of India's nuclear energy program. The lyrics suggest that Bhabha's vision for India's nuclear energy program was one of creating a superpower, and that those who work at BARC are leading the world ahead in terms of scientific advancement.
