Vampire Rodents' last recodings were made in 1997 when Vahnke was working on a follow-up to Gravity's Rim. Legal issues with Fifth Colvmn Records unexpectedly halted activity and the project was put on hiatus. After over a decade of inactivity, Daniel Vahnke officially announced his musical retirement and the project's abandonment in 2009. In 2016, Vahnke established an official youtube page titled Rodentia Productions and began issuing unreleased material.

Finstre, schwarze risenfalter
Auf die menschenherzen nieder
Blindgeschlagen von der geier flatterndem gespensterschwarme
The lyrics to Vampire Rodents' song "Toten Faschist" are dark and intense, conveying a sense of horror and disgust towards fascism. The first line, "Der einzig guten faschist ist eine toten faschist" translates to "The only good fascist is a dead fascist," setting the tone for the rest of the song. The next line describes the image of dark, black butterflies descending upon human hearts, symbolizing the oppression and destruction caused by fascist ideologies. The following line depicts the people as being blinded by the flapping of ghostly vultures, representing the fear and confusion instilled by fascist regimes.
The entire song is a powerful critique of fascism and its impact on society. It speaks to the need for resistance and the preservation of freedom and human rights. The lyrics are cleverly crafted to convey a message through vivid imagery and metaphor, making it a highly effective piece of social commentary.
