Listen to the Lion
Van Morrison Lyrics
And all my love come down
All my love come tumblin' down
All my love come tumblin' down
All my love come tumblin' down
Oh, listen listen
To the lion
Oh, listen listen listen
To the lion
Inside of me
Oh, oh, oh
And I shall search my soul
I shall search my very soul
And I shall search my very soul
I shall search my very soul
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
Inside of me
Oh, oh, yeah
And all my tears have flown
All my tears like water flown
And all my tears like water flown
All my tears like a water flown
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
Inside of me
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion
Listen to the lion

And we sailed, and we sailed
And we sailed, and we sailed
And we sailed, and we sailed
sailed to Caledonia
And we sailed, and we sailed
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed
Away from Denmark
Way up to Caledonia
Away from Denmark
Way up to Caledonia
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed
All around the world
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed
Looking for a brand new start
And we sailed
And we sailed, and we sailed
All around the world, a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed
And we sailed
Away from the Golden Gate
Way up to the New York City

He's a singer, songwriter, author, poet, and multi-instrumentalist, who has been a professional musician since 1958. He plays a variety of instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, keyboards, drums, and saxophone. Featuring his characteristic growl - a unique mix of folk, blues, Irish, scat, and Celtic influences - Morrison is widely considered one of the most unusual and influential vocalists in the history of rock and roll. He has received numerous music awards during his career, including six Grammy Awards (1996–2007); inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (January 1993), the Songwriters Hall of Fame (June 2003), and the Irish Music Hall of Fame (September 1999); and a Brit Award (February 1994).
Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band Them, writing their 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career, starting with the album Astral Weeks.
Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino", and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic tradition, jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album Astral Weeks and lesser known works such as Veedon Fleece and Common One. The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul," and Morrison rejects the characterization of his genre of music as Rock, citing Elvis Presley as a non-influence.
He continues to perform regularly and achieved his highest U.S. chart position (number ten on the Billboard 200) with his 2008 album, Keep It Simple.

Hi Andrew! A huge Amen!! I see the photos in the same way. Each face tells a story. No words are needed.
People finding that courage within ( the lion)
I adore Van Morrison. ❤
He, his music i(which imho is one and the same) is embedded in my very soul. Whenever I need to re-charge, find my center, need inspiration... so many things
"Van the Man" ...his music, poetry, prose is almost always who I turn to.
What a storyteller! His lyrics, music are captivating. Empowering. Emotional. Healing & Fun! ( think "The Best of Van Morrison") with: "Cleaning Windows" & " Bright Side of the Road" " Gloria"!
And then there's the "other side of the scale" with, "Poets Champion Compose"...."Celtic Excavation"...WOW! The most gorgeous instrumental ever.
And, "The Garden" just takes me away, I flow into it. I've actually choreographed dance, to much of his music throughout the years.
His music, lyrics takes us to such ethereal places, for example, "Hymns to the Silence," I just move with the music. I dance, to merge with the music and we (the music & the dancing) become as one. I hope I'm making sense lol
It's also a form of meditation for me.
Quite a beautiful experience of expression, release and surrender.
Two art forms, merging...this is a huge part of what dance is to me.. ( this is my personal opinion based on my own experiences)
Your soul "becomes" (again, merges and transforms) the music, through dance. And vice versa. "True" Dancers understand, experience this.
I used to dance Ballet, (en Pointe), which is an Art form of story telling, as is music. Pure expression. Through music and movement. Van's music is especially amazing for dance!
Many forms of it. Greatly varied in style.
Sorry!,...got off track there! 😍
I'm so grateful for music, in general and all genres.
Van takes us, on many types of journeys, moods and can transform us. Music, especially the music of Van, enriches our lives. And at the core of it all, is love. It all comes from the heart, the soul. That love unites us, through the music and dance art forms.
Love unites us. Love saves us.
Just as music does.
Music is a healer. Medicine. Love.
Thank you.
With gratitude and love.
Please stay safe and be well.
Thank God, for music.

I have to laugh at myself. I am seventy-two now, but as a young man, I used to sing along with this song. I remembered all the words to the song. I am sure my neighbors didn't appreciate my singing.

It's 2021, and this song is still relevant and I'm quite a bit younger than you. You are fan of and artist who produces timeless music, which will keep us both forever young! Van Morrison is just so incredibly prolific.
