Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band Them, writing their 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career, starting with the album Astral Weeks.
Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino", and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic tradition, jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album Astral Weeks and lesser known works such as Veedon Fleece and Common One. The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul," and Morrison rejects the characterization of his genre of music as Rock, citing Elvis Presley as a non-influence.
He continues to perform regularly and achieved his highest U.S. chart position (number ten on the Billboard 200) with his 2008 album, Keep It Simple.

I'm hungry for your love
I'm hungry for your love
But I can wait now
I'm on the telephone
And I am all alone
I'm on the telephone
[Chorus]
I got such a lot of love
I want to give it to you
I got such a lot of love
I want to give it to you
I got such a lot of love
I want to give it to you
And though we're far apart
You are here in my heart
And though we're far apart
You're part of me now
And after all the years
And after all the tears
And after all the tears
There's just the truth now
[Chorus]
Well, I'm hungry for your love
Hungry for your love
Well, I'm hungry, yeah, well, I'm hungry
For your love now
I love you in buckskin, yeah, yeah
I love you in buckskin, yeah, yeah
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you
I love you now
I'm hungry for your love
The lyrics of Van Morrison's song "Hungry For Your Love" express a deep desire for love and affection. The repetition of the phrase "I'm hungry for your love" emphasizes the singer's intense longing for the person he is singing about. However, he acknowledges that he is willing to wait for their love, expressing a sense of patience and devotion.
The second verse, in which the singer is on the telephone, suggests a sense of distance between him and the person he loves. Despite this physical separation, they are "connected" and he feels their presence in his heart. The reference to "all the years" and "all the tears" suggests a history of difficult times between the two, but despite this, the singer affirms that what remains is the truth.
Throughout the song, the repeated chorus reinforces the singer's desire to give his love to the person he is singing about. The final lines of the song, in which the singer proclaims his love, convey a sense of urgency and passion.
Overall, "Hungry For Your Love" is a deeply emotional song about love, longing, and connection. Through its evocative lyrics and passionate vocals, it conveys the power of love to transcend distance and time.
