Out of the solitary blue
Out of a cold night
Out of a room without a view
How could I find you
How could you break on through to me
I must have been blinded
Chorus:
I'm in love
I'm in wonderful love
I'm in deep this time
All heart, no mind
I'm in love
I can feel my life unwind
One in a million
One of the lucky chosen few
Could have be different
Could have been me here without you
What are the chances
What are the miracles to trust
What are the forces
To turn an ego into us
Chorus
Unwind into something new
Unwind into something true
I see a million different colours
With each and every step I take
I find myself, now I'm falling into you
Chorus
I'm in love
I can feel my *life* unwind
The lyrics to "Unwind" by Van Velzen speak about finding love and how it can change a person's life. The song starts with describing the feelings of loneliness and the search for love. The words "Out of the dark sky, out of the solitary blue, out of a cold night, out of a room without a view" suggest a feeling of being lost and struggling to find one's way. The lyrics then convey the idea that love can be unexpected and can come from nowhere, as in the lines "How could I find you, How could you break on through to me, I must have been blinded, by a light, I did not see." This suggests that sometimes love may have been right in front of us, but we were unable to see it until it presented itself in a more significant way.
The chorus speaks more directly about the feelings of love and how it can change a person's perspective. The words "I'm in love, I'm in wonderful love, I'm in deep this time, all heart, no mind," indicate that love is overwhelmingly powerful and can take over one's heart, mind, and body. It's a feeling that can't be controlled, and it's not just about rational decision-making anymore, but rather about following one's instincts and emotions. The final line, "I can feel my life unwind," suggests that discovering love can bring relief from anxiety and stress, allowing a person to relax and let go.
In the second verse, the lyrics acknowledge the randomness of finding love and how lucky one must be to come across it. The words "One in a million, one of the lucky chosen few, could have been different, could have been me here without you," suggest that love can fall upon anyone at any time. Sometimes, it's random luck that brings two people together, and other times it might be fate or destiny that guides the way. The lines "What are the chances, what are the miracles to trust, what are the forces to turn an ego into us" also suggest that love can be a transformative force, bringing two separate individuals together into one cohesive unit.
Overall, "Unwind" speaks about love being a force that can change a person's life in profound ways. It's an overwhelming feeling that can be all-consuming, and the randomness of its arrival only adds to its power. The song suggests that finding love allows a person to unwind and find peace, comfort, and happiness in the present moment.
