1. Vanessa L. Williams - American singer and actress.
2. Vanessa R. Williams - American gospel music singer.
1. Vanessa Lynn Williams (born 18 March 1963 - Tarrytown, New York, U.S.) is an American R&B/pop/theatrical singer and actress. In 1983, Williams made history when she became the first woman of known African descent to be crowned Miss America. Her regime as Miss America came to an early and abrupt end when she resigned her title under pressure when Penthouse published nude pictures of her that Hugh Heffner, publisher of Playboy, said he turned down because "they clearly weren't authorized" and that publication of surprise nude pictures without her consent "would be the source of considerable embarrassment to her."
However, she has since gone on to a successful entertainment career. Williams secured a record deal, and released her debut album, The Right Stuff. The first single, Dreamin', was a chart success, and the album reached gold status and earned her three Grammy Award nominations, including one for Best New Artist.
In addition to "Dreamin'", her most notable chart successes have included the songs Running Back To You, Love Is, The Sweetest Days, Colors of the Wind, The Comfort Zone, Just For Tonight, and Oh How The Years Go By. Her biggest hit to date is Save the Best For Last, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks from March 21 to April 18, 1992. In total, Williams has sold six million records and received fifteen Grammy Award nominations.
In 2005, Williams released her eighth studio album, Everlasting Love, a collection of covers of her favorite 1970s songs.
Vanessa made her comeback in 2006 in the US hit series Ugly Betty in the role of Wilemina Slater. She also made a cameo appearance as a sports journalist in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where she gave birth, the baby being delivered by Will Smith.
She's also been seen in a few episodes of Desperate Housewives Season 7; she then joined the cast and remained a series regular until the show ended in 2012.

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
let your heart be light
From now on our troubles will be out of sight
Here we are as in all the days
Faithful friends who adire to us
gotta near to us once more
To the years we'll always be together
if the fades allowed
Mmhh
Hang a shining star upon a highest bar
yeah eh yeah
and have yourself a merry little christmas now
Uh uh
Uh uh
Have yourself a merry little christmas
make the you tight gate
from now on our troubles will be miles away
Uh u Uh
Here we are as in all the days
have gone in days of your
Faithful friends who adire to us
gotta near to us once more
In the years we'll always be together
if the fades allowed
Yeah
Hang a shining star upon my highest bar
oh and have yourself a merry little christmas now
Yeah
Uh u Uh
A merry little christmas now
Merry christmas
and a happy new year
The song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Vanessa Williams is a classic holiday tune that encourages listeners to have a merry Christmas and forget about their troubles. The song urges listeners to let their hearts be light and leave their troubles behind, assuring them that everything will be okay in the end. The lyrics mention a time when faithful friends will gather near and the years will always be spent together if time allows.
The lyrics portray an image of hope and joy despite the challenges of the year past. The reference to "faithful friends" is perhaps the most powerful part of the song, as it makes listeners feel surrounded by love and support. The line "if the fates allow" hints at the fragility and uncertainty of life, and encourages listeners to appreciate the moments they have and the people they cherish. The song closes by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, further emphasizing the message of hope and joy.

My favorite version of this song. This wasn't from her Silver & Gold album though. That one is totally different. This version is from a 1998 CD, Celebrate the Seasons. In honor of the T.J. Martell Foundation. Still faved it 'cause I love this song!

This song even predates the "Celebrate The Seasons" benefit album. This was originally released on a promotional only CD called "Wing Christmas" in 1990. It was a 4 song single that also featured songs by Brian McKnight, Sharon Bryant, and "Tony!Toni!Tone!. The "CTS" album marked the first time this first version was commercially released.
