As her names suggests (in Portuguese "da Mata" means "from the forest") is a force of nature. This singer and composer cannot play all the instruments, but she has an overt musicality. She gathers more than 250 compositions in book notes and tapes which she always carries in her purse. Before her debut album brought her name into the spotlight, many artists recorded some of her songs. One of them, Chico César pushed for making her compositions more famous in Brazil.

Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem,
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem
E ela vem, que vem pisando
Na barra da saia amarela
Acode que lá vem,
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem,
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem
Troca as pernas e troca tudo
Tomou uma pinga de caju
Achando que era Ki-suco
Acode que lá vem,
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem,
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
Acode que lá vem
Troca as pernas e troca tudo
Pisou no rabo do cachorro brabo
Acordou xingando o mundo
Acode que lá vem
Acode que lá vem ela
E acode que lá vem ela
The lyrics to Vanessa da Mata's song "Acode" describe a woman stumbling and swaying as she walks, possibly under the influence of alcohol. The repetition of the phrase "acode que lá vem ela" can be interpreted as the woman causing a commotion or drawing attention to herself with her behavior. The imagery of her walking on the hem of her yellow skirt gives a sense of dishevelment and chaos.
The second half of the song describes the woman experiencing further mishaps, such as tripping and falling due to her unsteady gait, and mistakenly drinking alcohol thinking it was a non-alcoholic beverage. The final verse mentions the woman accidentally stepping on a dog's tail and waking up angry, cursing at the world.
