"Into The Ice"
Love is the word I said a million times
Love, slow.
Love is the word I meant to say all the time
God left my hand, I fell into the ice
There was nothin' there, I couldn't breath
I started to cry when you said goodbye
Your kindness sheltered my life from any harm
Love is the word you said a few times
Love, so far.
I never knew how was this love
Tough, love.
I'll never forget what took me out of bed
Made me sweat and will make me go back
I shut my eyes everytime it gets dark
Cause I hardly know, I hardly know what's
Love.
The lyrics in Vanguart's song "Into The Ice" touch on themes of love, loss, and vulnerability. The opening lines express a sense of repetition and longing, with the singer saying that they have said the word "love" a million times, but it feels slow and ineffective. They then clarify that they meant to say it all the time, but now it feels gone. The next lines shift into a more desperate tone, with the singer saying that they were left alone by God and fell into the ice with no air. They started to cry when their love said goodbye, but this person's kindness had previously sheltered them from harm.
The second verse is spoken from a different perspective, with the singer flipping from their own repeated use of the word "love" to someone else's. Their love said the word a few times, but now it feels so far away. The singer admits they never knew how tough love could be. The final lines bring the song full circle, with the singer acknowledging that there is something that "took me out of bed" - a feeling that makes them sweat, but will also make them go back. They shut their eyes when it gets dark because they hardly know what love really is.
Overall, the lyrics in "Into The Ice" capture the overwhelming feeling of trying to navigate the complexities of love - both the joy and the pain. The singer is searching for meaning and understanding, but finds themselves lost in the cold and dark.
