… Read Full Bio ↴Vanity Beach is a Finnish industrial rock/metal band from Helsinki.
The band is: Jonas Karsten (vocals), Lars Pontus Nybergh (guitar), Jesse Valo (bass), Sophie Sarisalmi (synthesizers) and Miikka Tikka (drums). The band was formed in 2002.
The critically acclaimed debut CD; Nights Of The New was released independently by the band back in April 2003 and the sales exceeded all expectations. The first printing of the CD sold out only within a couple of weeks of its release. So far, the band has released one full-length album (Nights of the New), an EP (Vengeance) and a number of singles. Vanity Beach are releasing their new album "A Life Of Vice" in Finland on May 5th, 2010 through Jäänsärkijä Records/Playground Music Finland.
Vanity Beach was formed in 2002 after the demise of Joakim Nyberg's and Jonas Karsten's former band cUM. The band entered the studio back in 2001 to start recording what would eventually end up being released as Nights Of The New. The album is basically a collection of demos recorded between the years 2001 and 2003. The album notably featured a guest appearance by Chibi from The Birthday Massacre on the song The Knight Murders. An extended version of the album was released in Australia on October 17, 2005 through Electricult Records/MGM.
One-off shows were played in Finland, Sweden, Estonia and the Russian Federation including warm-up shows for bands such as Swedish pop sensations Shout Out Louds and Estonian heavyweights Pedigree. In the summer of 2004 the band played at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Helsinki. The infamous show, notoriously ending with the band destroying their gear sealed the band's reputation as a truly dangerous live act.
Vengeance was originally slated to be released in May 2005 but was pushed back for a later release due to the inner turbulence within the band's ranks, resulting in delays in the recording process. Titus Simberg left the band a few months later. Take Me To Tokyo, the first single off the band's second album Vengeance was released in August 2005. The single, paving the way for the new album received rave reviews and earned the band features in such high-profile magazines as Metal Hammer and Kerrang!. A video for the song was shot at Europa Studios in Stockholm, Sweden.
Vengeance was released in October 31, although as an EP version. The band promises to release more material early in 2007, with a possible full length album. The band filmed a video to BATCAVE, their first actual single song off the new EP. The video featured a cameo from M.A. Numminen and was directed by Jaakko Itäaho (of Picture This - Mack Dawg Productions fame).
The band recorded their new album "A Life Of Vice" with Johnny Lee Michaels (of The 69 Eyes fame) handling the production duties in 2008. The album was recorded in the center of Helsinki in Helsinki Underground Studios. "Garden Of Cruelty" was featured in the snowboard movie Storbis (2009) and the first single "Batcave" premiered on Finnish radio on March 5th, 2010.
Nyberg and Granvik left the band during the sessions. A new line-up was put together after the work on the album was finished. Jesse Valo took over the bass duties and Sophie Sarisalmi stepped in as the new synthesizers operator. During 2009 the band played their first arena show opening up for Marilyn Manson at Hartwall Areena and opened up for HIM at their hometown New Years festival Helldone held annually at Helsinki's famed Tavastia Club.

By my reflect today
Take the shot
I'll be your hero
God pressure to the second
Tell me what I've done, done
Just tell me what is wrong
Just tell me what is wrong
I know, you know
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more maybes
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more, no more
This spine, sorcerer
Once you tried, fucking try
I know you will
Tell me what I've done, done
Just tell me what is wrong
Tell me what I've done, done done
Just tell me what is wrong
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more maybes
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more maybe
Tonight (no more maybe)
Tonight (no more maybe)
Tonight
(No more maybe) tonight
(No more maybe) tonight
(No more maybe) tonight
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more maybes
(Seven Eleven)
She drive me crazy
(Seven Eleven)
No more
The lyrics to Vanity Beach's song 711 talks about wanting someone familiar to be with, perhaps seeking security and comfort in someone who knows them well. The line "Take the shot, I'll be your hero" could be interpreted as a willingness to take a risk for the person they're addressing, perhaps in exchange for feeling like a hero in their eyes. The mention of "God pressure" could be a reference to the pressure one feels in high-pressure situations, possibly indicating that taking this risk is a big deal.
The verses then transition into the chorus which emphasizes the other person's impact on them, using the metaphor of being driven crazy by someone. The repetition of "no more maybes" could illustrate a desire for clarity or commitment in the relationship.
The bridge of the song seems to switch gears a bit, with the lines "this spine, sorcerer" and "once you tried, fucking try" indicating that the singer is perhaps determined and not easily deterred. The final repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea of the other person driving them wild, but ends on a note of finality with the repeated phrase "no more."
