The band started when the lyricist, Martin Abrahamsson, wrote the song "Ge dom våld". The song didn't fit in with Sibiria, the band where Martin Abrahamsson used to play. So, together with the singer from Sibiria, Martin Hanberg, he started the band Vapnet.
Other members are Anna Modin, Per-Olof Stjernered, Jesper Hedin and David Nygård.

The lyrics to Vapnet's song "Snart Går Du Inte Själv" speaks about unrequited love and the painful feelings that come with it. The singer sees this person they are in love with and whether they're happy or sad, it doesn't matter because the singer isn't significant to them. Even when the singer is upset, the person they're in love with doesn't acknowledge them, which makes the singer feel foolish. The pain is felt when the person they love is hurting, but it's even worse when they're happy because the singer knows they're the reason behind that joy.
The singer struggles to move on and tries to find a way to get closer to the person they love. They can't bear to walk by them without trying to interact with them - the desperation is palpable. The singer even thinks about choosing someone repulsive to be with, just because they'll be able to assess from a closer vantage point. Finally, they say that whether the person they love is happy or sad, it doesn't matter to them because they don't play a vital role in their life.
