The band started when the lyricist, Martin Abrahamsson, wrote the song "Ge dom våld". The song didn't fit in with Sibiria, the band where Martin Abrahamsson used to play. So, together with the singer from Sibiria, Martin Hanberg, he started the band Vapnet.
Other members are Anna Modin, Per-Olof Stjernered, Jesper Hedin and David Nygård.

Vapnet Lyrics

Ut över parken
Krematoriets klockor klingar
Klingar jul
Klingar jul för mig
För jag har fångat något värt
En lägenhet, en helt ny värld
Men Stuguvägen förstår
Under balkongen
Står de och skriker
Pat spelar HC, ropen
Synkar musiken
Och jag är lycklig
Hur vi står och tittar ned
"kom hit" skriker de
"så vi kan spöa er"
Du höll mig, du höll mig
Stuguvägen
Jag håller ihop tack vare dig
Stuguvägen
Förfest, fest
Efterfest
Samma personer, samma sak igen
Ett selektivt
Urval kan man kalla det
Eller begränsat umgänge
För vi är allt som finns
Du höll mig, du höll mig
Du höll mig, du höll mig
Stuguvägen
Jag håller ihop tack vare dig
Stuguvägen
Du höll mig, du höll mig
Stuguvägen
Jag håller ihop tack vare dig
Stuguvägen

Stuguvägen
The first part of this song talks about the singer's surroundings. They mention the park and the bells of the crematorium ringing, which apparently sound like Christmas to them. The second part of the song focuses on the singer's new apartment and how everything feels strange but the street they live on, Stuguvägen, helps them make sense of it all. Amidst everything, the singer finds themselves at a party and it seems that they only know the same limited group of people from the pre-party, the party, and the after party. They acknowledge that this is a small group, but it is all they have, and in the end, they are grateful for the comfort and familiarity that Stuguvägen provides.
The chorus of the song is very repetitive, speaking to the reliance that the singer has on this street, Stuguvägen, to keep them together. The use of repetition in the chorus emphasizes the importance of the stability that "Stuguvägen" brings, it acts as a symbol of familiarity, of home. The rest of the lyrics explore different aspects of the singer's life in this new apartment, which can be seen as representing the bigger changes happening in their life.
