The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Various Artists Lyrics

gelora melanda didalam hidup ku
dapatkah ku cari tenang
awan kelabu menutup cahaya masa ku rasa sinarannya
The lyrics to Various Artists' song [untitled] express a sense of inner turmoil and emotional unrest. The singer describes feeling overwhelmed by a storm of emotions inside their own psyche, and seeks to find peace and tranquility amid the chaos. The metaphor of a "gray cloud" obscuring the light of their life suggests that they are going through a dark and difficult time.
Though the singer struggles with feelings of sadness and disappointment, they find solace in the natural beauty around them. They are able to smile at the world and appreciate its wonders, even as they face their own personal struggles. However, the final lines of the song reveal a deep sense of longing and unanswered questions about the object of their affection.
Overall, [untitled] is a poignant and introspective song that captures the complexities of human emotion and the search for meaning and fulfillment in life.

gelora melanda didalam hidup ku
Emotions are raging inside my life
dapatkah ku cari tenang
Can I find peace?
awan kelabu menutup cahaya masa ku rasa sinarannya
Gray clouds cover the light I used to feel
sapai bila aku manahan tangisan yang berlubuk dlm jiwa
Until when can I hold back the tears that are piling up in my soul?
namun ku mampu tersenyum pada isi alam
But I am able to smile at the beauty of the world
dan pada mu yang mengecewakan tiap harapan hati ku kini membeku dan kau pun membisu tiada lagi menyinta
And towards you who has disappointed every hope in my heart, it is now frozen and you too are speechless, no longer loving
gelora melanda di dalam hidup ku dapatkah ku cari tenang hilang di jiwa wajah mu sering ku jumpa terasa beratnya jiwa tertekan serasakn ingin ku bertanya
Emotions are raging inside my life, can I find peace? Your face, which I often see, feels heavy and pressed, makes me want to ask
