The fact that you say ”he got this arms by lifting too many wheights” shows the lack of knowledge on training

Curtis Roland

You must be a genius when it comes to training 👍

I like how this guy completely ignores the fact that the "best" MMA fighters only the best in their own weight category.

@Jerry Stone Just look at Boxing , Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano and many more. Your height get's taken away, by a fighter if he's side stepping well, and linking this defence, with attack almost as one. I agree size counts, when all else is equal, or close, but if that other fighter is more intelligent, and more well rounded in all the basics, suddenly it's not gonna count for so much.
You can even use lateral thinking on this, the German tribes laughed and mocked the Roman for his small stature , yet the Roman for hundreds of years hammered him when it came to fighting it out. How?

Superior intellect, organisation, discipline, training, strategy, etc, and only when Rome degraded, due to scarcity of money, and slips in standards and discipline, could the Germans size advantages win out and they did! Which is me backing up your point. Another example, in the worlds most popular sport, soccer, apart from some of the individual players , who tended to smaller Pele and Maradona,, there was a line of thought, in Europe that size counted for much, which continued for 50 years, from the late 1950s until 2009, After half a century, it was ripped apart, by superior strategy and technique, which neutralised physicality in such a humiliating manner, by the Spanish who were comparatively smaller overall,, and who showed the flaws in that line of thought. It took four years to counteract this by the physical school. Which was enough time, to get 2 European Championships, and a World cup at national team level, and 2 Champions Leagues at club level, and more importantly go down, in popular folklore, world over with consensus, as the greatest club side in history , with Barcelona being a comparatively small team compared to most Elite world teams up to then.

Look at even human evolution, alpha males , war lords ,tyrants, Kings, the big dog, almost always meet the same demise eventually, which is the Beta males are bullied, lack resources, as Alpha male keeps the, asserting his dominance, so they use intellect and band together and over throw him, and that is literally an example of human evolution throughout time. In the end I agree size plays a large factor, if all else is equal or close, but remember , human intelligence is always looking to exploit that and take the advantage, and we're rather ingenious at it, and if it's not creating something new, to exploit this , it's otherwise rediscovering some angle from the past long forgotten, which does the job of the leverage. So no matter how lazy someone wants to be and make a quick assumption, size will always have competition, from will power, intellect and discipline, and simply somebody willing to go the extra mile, to neutralise sizes advantage, and these are legion throughout history, in one or more areas to even that up and gain advantage

A classic example of these swings between size vs method, is the story of Mendoza in boxing, a man five foot seven and dominated all his heavy weight opponents, and became champion of Britain in the 1700s period hammering big men via superior method and class. He eventually met his match after he let things slip, like the Romans did, and a big Bruiser, with excellent skill, Gentleman John Jackson gave him an absolute pasting, because he had equalled him, in most other aspects, and so now his size could count, and he absolutely shattered Mendoza, with brute power, use of range, and skill which is me again backing up your original point . I think both count in truth, and one is born with size, often doesn't usually feel the need to work as much, physically and mentally. Not many people are willing to go the extra mile physically and mentally to compensate and neuralise it, which takes extra efforts,, so we don't see it enough. People like convenience, and size is highly convenient. SIze wins out then, When that person, or group, as it is in some competitions, in life, causes shock and awe as the assumption is demolished , and people scratch their heads, you can guarentee, they have done extra work, to neutralise it, and even sometimes thought outside of the box

I know that the David VS GOLIATH thing is a very popular concept with people ecpecaily little dudes . But it is not reality . Take for example Big Bob Sapp the MMA PRIDE FREAK SHOW . He was it even a skilled fighter and defeated the first 20 small dude's he fought . And they had MMA skills size and strength go along way !

For me,an interested nobody it's about time, knowledge character and will power. I agree to an extent the size can make some differences Sure, however... many times a man has risen through a variety of weight categories and psychological character, and advanced skill, and strategy has prevailed, which is gained over putting in more time than others in many cases. Time is money and effort, and in professional boxing for example, rotted out across the 20th century, with commercialism, the quest for bigger faster stronger by coaches , in attempts to save time, and earn more money, and prestige faster, has led to this becoming less and less common. Were that to not be the case, then such assumptions would be challenged much more often than we ever see. Entire sets of techniques are also lost in such processes, as art, science and technicality, make way for time saving athleticism,
Some Lateral thinking about other sports, or even the history of warfare, proves it's a lot more open as a concept. Roman troops would thrash for centuries the larger statured Germanic tribes, who themselves made a habit of mocking Romans for their smaller genetic stature, yet the Romans ability to use intelligence, better strategy and tactics, and train the way he fought, for centuries was able to overcome the physically larger and courageous German tribes. In soccer( association football) the move towards physique and athleticism that had been a constant since the 1960s in thinking and had come to it's very peak by 2007 , was ripped apart for an era by a contradictory Spain and Barcelona and proved humiliating to such thought, until in desperation ,brains , good strategy and science could bowl the smaller Spanish, technical and strategic advantages over.

Bobby Lashley also fought in MMA. That Russian guy filled his muscle with Synthol oil. He is not muscular. Muscle definitely helps you in a fight. However, you definitely not need to be a body-builder.
