The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Clayton, you’ve got a fan for life, just from this one song! I’m currently watching my 32 yr marriage crumble around me. Subtle signs of cheating for about 6-8 months and right around our 32 anniversary in March, she said she was tired of our marriage and wanted a divorce. After raising 3 young men, 2 were twins, and going through the ups and downs that come with raising children, while keeping a roof over your head and the lights on, this hit me like Tyson! But I’m not begging anyone to love me. If the embers are cold in her mind, I don’t want to be around someone who doesn’t truly give it their all. This song is so beautiful and so rare for one to still care that much for the other, that they want them to be truly happy even after the heartbreak. In my situation, I don’t feel this way, simply because what I had to endure from a psychotic covert narcissist with BPD for 32 years because I didn’t want my sons to grow up hating me for leaving and I felt it was my responsibility to guide them through their young lives. Sadly I exchanged my internal happiness for the sake of my children and now that my life is in the sundown years, I feel as though I’ve been cheated out of 32 yrs. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read the story of my life ..
