R.I.P. My dear father, William Clyde Baker. 1938-2007. You used to sing me to sleep with this song so many years ago. I miss you Dad

Nothing in mdern music can equal the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's. I have officially become "one of those people" who clings to the musical memories of his youth. But look at what passes for 'romantic' music nowadays and it makes one shudder There is no beauty to be found here so what not gaze off fondly into the past. I appreciate music from most eras (99.99 percent of modern "music" excluded) and can enjoy songs from the 20's, 30's, etc. Sometimes the lyrics are just as dumb modern ones.

I was in the U.S. Navy (1961-1965) and served aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Walker (DD-517) stationed at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. On board, we had a band that played "Harbor Lights" whenever we left a port which I know I wasn't the only sailor with a lump in his throat. Thanks for a very well done video.

@TheJackie212

The Platters are one of the very best groups from the 50's---this song and My Prayer are my faves :)

@ytcarol

This is one of those beautiful songs from the '50s that we hardly are aware of now. Lovely melody, evocative images through the words, and captures the meaning of the emotion so well. Seniors at the retirement community I work at sang this in a recent '50s musical show and it was so sweet.

@armyoldsweat

Thank you.  Absolutely beautiful.  Excuse and old fellas' tears of a memory.

Made me think of my parents who met and married while they were both serving in the United State Navy during World War 2. Made me think of the innocence of Hawaii being torn to shreds in a single moment. And the fear and anger that our country must have felt at that time. God Bless America
