The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.

Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.

Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.

Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.

Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

This is my favorite song from the movie. I'm glad they added these scenes, it explained to much about Belle's and her father's characters and choices. The Beast saw Belle at her most vulnerable, which strengthened their bond. Not to mention I teared up a little in this scene.

Megan McKnight I was already in the point in the movie where I forgot all Beast's flaws... and when he apologized about calling her dad a thief, it was almost hero-like. I mean, he could just forget about the past, and Belle wasn't mad at him any longer... I know that he did it because of that scene and song, but it was really nice, and got me thinking. Also got me chills. I never expected a deeper story in this film, I'm so glad they extended on the original Disney animation... so many new songs, so many great new scenes... It's like the best movie ever

a lot of people think that this scene, and all the additional scenes they put in this movie, are unnecessary to the main plot.but i think those scenes especially this one, where belle goes back to paris is very brilliant. because it actually explains why belle is a little different from the people in the village. why she always wants more than just a provincial life. why she wants a bigger world, why she reads a lot. in here, we acknowledge that belle actually came from a big city, which is paris. but sadly she and her father had to move away because of that tragedy involving her mother back when she was in childhood. and the heartbreaking thing is that she realizes that paris is not the same anymore, and by that, she is finally ready to move on. i find this scene is very touching, heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time. and emma sings the best in this song. i dont care if it is autotuned or not,it is still beautiful.

I agree with you. My boyfriend and I watched the animated the night before going to see the new one. We both commented that the original hinted to her being from Paris for multiple reasons.

I found this scene particularly heartbreaking for me because much of Belle's backstory parallels my own life. My mother died when I was young and my dad would never tell me how she died. We moved away from my hometown and I was a huge bookworm who got bullied a lot. Unfortunately, my relationship with my dad deteriorated due to a lack of trust and my stepmother. But this this scene was heartbreaking, because it brought back all those emotions. All those times I wish I could return to my childhood and see my mother. Wishing I could know more about her. Back when I used to wish I knew what happened to her. Disney did a great job with this.

He wasn't illiterate in the old one, at least not in the sense that he never learned - he'd just forgotten how to read because he hadn't done it in a decade and didn't see the sense in keeping himself civilised because he was convinced that he would remain a beast for the rest of his life. (i. e, he didn't wear clothes, didn't bother to walk on his hind legs etc)
Plus, even without that, the library could have been his father's or anyone else's, just because it's in the castle and he owns it now doesn't mean he was the one who collected all these books and you don't have to be literate just to own a library

actually, it is not overtly autotuned. you can tell it is layered and reduxed/compressed to hell because any song would sound like crap without that, but it is not autotuned because you can still hear fluctuations in pitch due to emma's vibrato.

Yes, for this song, her voice sounds just polished, not overdone like in Belle, imo. In Something There, there were a few moments where i thought they did a bit too much work to her voice, but here I think they found that perfect balance of retaining her voice while also polishing it up for the soundtrack.

very true. i'm a recording arts college student so i know all about autotune and that was the reason i was dreading seeing my favorite movie being redone because emma isn't a singer. although there wasn't as much autotune on her voice on this song compared to "Belle" (i could hear the obvious pops and clicks from using so much autotune and the terrible job on her vocal comping) where i wanted to rip my ears out, it's still so unnatural to me. and i know that 99.9999999% of people out there use autotune, but this is just a little too much to overdone where it's very unnatural to me and it just sounds bad.
i love emma watson, she's a great actress, activist, woman, etc. and i would love to see her as belle if it was a version with no songs (or with no belle solos), but i'm really disappointed that they didn't cast someone who could actually sing naturally.

One of the best scenes in the whole movie! You see her and Beast really bonding, and the face he makes when she says "let's go home". It is such a vulnerable scene, and it adds so much. Listening to this song gives me so much nostalgia from when I watched this movie in theaters. During the first several minutes after the movie finished and I walked out, I felt like I was transported to a different world and became a different girl. I can’t express it exactly into words. It was as if the atmosphere of the movie’s world bled into mine.

This adaptation added so much things, so many additional scenes that my heart never knew it wanted like Belle’s backstory and the moment she realized she had to move on from the darling place of her childhood, the last time she was with her mother. This movie is all of this and yet it removed so much small precious moments from the original. Like, in the original it was the Beast who admitted in such a sad tone that he loves Belle, but in the adaptation Mrs. Potts said it... I audibly sighed and shook my head when that moment came in the adaptation. And after 5 years since watching this movie, I’ve found so much missed opportunities that would’ve made it more beautiful.

One of them is the Beast’s appearance and his reveal scene. They had the opportunity to make the Beast’s reveal scene as suspenseful and frightening as the original if not more. They had the budget to build on to what the original animators would’ve wanted for the Beast to be yet couldn’t because of the technological limitations of the time. I can’t help but mourn for all the what-ifs.

So this adaptation, to me, stands on equal footing to the original for adding so much gorgeous things to it (Like Prince Adam’s backstory and Belle’s backstory shown here) that I never knew I wanted... yet removed things and moments from the original that have equal amounts of importance to me. Personally, movies are drastically separate but I love them both the same.

I really loved how they went a bit into Belle's backstory as well. Having her mother die from the plague was an interesting detail and it also added to the cultural themes in the movie. The movie played up it's French themes very strongly, and the fact that they acknowledged the plague gave it a more realistic feel and helped set a time period for it.

I agree that these scenes added a lot to the movie. I liked how it deepened the connection between Belle and the beast , how it shows how both Belle and the beast lost their mothers, how they both feel like outcasts and how they offer emotional support to each other. I think this is when the beast truly becomes human because for the first time he is able to empathize with someone who has experienced what he has and realizes that it is possible to show understanding for another besides himself

I realize animated movies have to be limited, but in so many Disney movies the main character has either a mother or father and the missing parent is never mentioned. cried when I watched it in cinemas and I have again now such an emotional and breathtaking films the original beauty and the beast was my favourite Disney movie but the live action one really did make me feel like I was in the movie and was walking through it all deffo recommend this fantastic film😂😭😲😍

I cried during this scene, its really beautiful, although some people said emma is emotionless in btab, I think she has done a very good job, maybe not perfect but yet her acting captured my heart. Just my opinion.
