The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Various Artists Lyrics

I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
And you′re here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last fora lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we′ll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there′s nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We′ll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
The lyrics to the song "Titanic" by Various Artists, made famous by Celine Dion, convey a deep sense of love and connection that transcends physical boundaries and persists even after separation or loss.
The first two lines, "Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you," suggest a profound emotional attachment to someone. The repetition of "every night in my dreams" indicates the constant presence of this person in the singer's thoughts and emotions. This imagery implies a spiritual or metaphysical connection, as if they are able to reunite on a different level beyond the physical realm.
The next lines, "That is how I know you go on, far across the distance and spaces between us, you have come to show you go on," further emphasize this idea of the enduring nature of love. Despite the geographical separation and the physical "spaces between us," the person being addressed has found a way to show their presence, symbolizing that their essence or memory lives on.
The chorus, "Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the heart does go on," encapsulates the overall theme of the song. It expresses the belief that true love retains its power and continues forward regardless of distance. The heart becomes the symbol of this enduring love, suggesting that even when apart, love remains alive and strong.
The lyrics continue to reinforce this idea, with lines like "Once more you open the door, and you're here in my heart," and "Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime." These phrases highlight the significance of love as a transformative force. It implies that even a brief encounter or connection can leave a lasting impact and continue to shape one's life and emotions.
Ultimately, the lyrics convey the message that love is eternal and has the power to transcend time and space. Despite any physical separation or loss, the love shared between two people will continue to exist and affect their lives. It emphasizes the importance of cherishing and holding onto love, even if circumstances may seem difficult or uncertain.
