The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Who keep on dishin' out misery!
You don't want no-one who don't treat you right [Sho-Nuff]
She gotta give you lovin' every night now!
You an' your new love 'Keep On, Keepin' On!'
Too late, Too late, Too late Baby now!
Too late - Whoohooooh!!"
The lyrics of "Too Late" by Various Artists delve into themes of love and the importance of being loved in return. The song emphasizes the need for mutual affection in a relationship, with the singer proclaiming that they don't want anyone who doesn't love them and dishes out misery. It's clear that the singer has experienced pain and heartache in the past and they are unwilling to tolerate any more of it. In the second verse, the singer addresses their partner directly, telling them that they deserve to be treated right and given love every night. The bridge of the song features the phrase "Keep On, Keepin' On," which can be seen as a message urging someone to persevere through hardship.
However, despite the emphasis on the importance of love and mutual affection, the chorus of the song reveals that it may be too late for the relationship to be salvaged. The repetition of the phrase "Too Late" underscores a feeling of finality and resignation. The singer seems to have accepted that the loving feeling between them and their partner is gone, and there is nothing left to be done. Overall, the lyrics of "Too Late" communicate a sense of entrapment and the frustrating feeling of being stuck in a relationship that no longer brings joy and love.

Drove down Laws Street today to see the JFK museum for the first time. Yet another site of Dallas youth antics and escapades. Knew Bryce when he moved to Austin. RIP, he offed himself before doing time in TX for meth.
