The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.
Where Them Girls At

I see this one, I'm about to go in
Then she said, I'm here with my friends
She got me thinking and that's when I said
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
So go get them, we can all be friends
Hey, bring it on baby, all your friends
You're the shit and I love that body
You wanna ball, let's mix it, I swear you're good, I won't tell nobody
You got a BFF, I wanna see that girl, it's all women invited
Hair do's and nails, that Louis, Chanel all up in the body
President's in my wallet, no rules I'm 'bout it
Blow the whistle for the hotties
I got it, shawty, it's never too much, can't be doing too much
10 to one of me, I can handle that love
Outta of my reach, we can all get buzz
Holla 'cause I'm free to whatever, it's no rush
So many boys in here where do I begin?
I see this one, I'm about to go in
Then he said I'm here with my friends
He got to thinking, then that's when he said
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
So go get them, we can all be friends
Peebe, peebe, who's Peabo Bryson?
Two years ago I renewed my license
Anyway, why'd I start my verse like that?
You can suck on a dick, or you can suck on a ballsack
No no, I don't endorse that
Pause that, abort that
Just the other day mi go London, saw that
Kissing down the street, paparazzi, all that
Hey hey what can I say?
Day day day da-day day
Coming through the club, all the girls in the back of me
This ain't football, why the fuck they tryna tackle me?
Really?
I pick dude at the bar like really?
Looking like he wanna good time like really?
Said he had a friend for my home girl Lilly Lilly, Lilly, Lilly
So many girls in here where do I begin?
I see this one, I'm about to go in
Then she said I'm here with my friends
She got me thinkin', then that's when I said
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
So go get them, we can all be friends
Day day day da-day day Where my girls at uhh, hmm, uhh
Where my girls at uhh, hmm, uhh
Yo, where my girls at uhh, hmm, uhh
Yo, where my girls tryna get to jumpin'
So many girls in here, where do I begin?
I seen this one, I'm about to go in
Then she said, I'm here with my friends
She got me thinking and that's when I said
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
Where them girls at, girls at?
So go get them, we can all be friends
The lyrics to the song "Where Them Girls At" by Various Artists are about going out to a club or party and looking for girls to hang out with. The first verse is sung by a guy who sees a girl he likes but is told she's with her friends. He then asks where all the other girls are and suggests they all hang out together. The second verse is sung by a girl who sees a guy she likes but is also with his friends, and she asks where all the other girls are and suggests they all hang out together.
The chorus repeats the question of where the girls are and suggests that they should all be friends. The last verse is a rap verse by Nicki Minaj, where she name-drops Peabo Bryson and talks about how she recently visited London and saw people kissing in public. She then talks about choosing a guy at the bar, and he suggests bringing his friend for one of her friends.
Overall, the song is a fun, upbeat party anthem about the search for new friends and connections. It celebrates the idea of going out and having a good time with a group of people, but it also hints at the difficulties and obstacles that come with meeting new people in a social setting.
