The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.

Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.

Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.

Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Thank you Calum for your wonderful message during the live premiere. It took me a while to react because I had so many emotions when you mentioned me. As this song plays continuously in my background, I realized that the balance in this song is one of the important factor to my road to happiness. It touches your heart that you want to cry out all your problems but at the right moment it brings you up and bum, bum...bum,bum you feel light and hopeful again.

I love how your team interpreted the idea of rising again by showing us that it could mean moving on into a peaceful and pain free dimension...it really reminded me of my husband that's why this song really meant a lot to me.

I was listening to Spotify and this song came on randomly.. The timing was perfect as I was just leaving my first AA meeting.. As a gay man of 68, my life has been more like "trading innocence for company as Sir Cliff put it”, I never did have a love that one could light a candle to. By my late 30s it was to late, as for the past 30 odd years I have been severely disable with many issues that just deteriorated more and more as time slipped away, now I spend my life alone, living in a wheelchair, determined to keep my independence to the last. The last couple of years have been a bit bad – major heart attack needing stents, followed by a diagnosis of emphysema and COPD and then for Christmas 2022 I was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Calum is one beautiful human, with an angelic voice and a message of hope and he has healed my soul! I am on the end of the runway now, engines are running and I am ready to RISE, you have taken my fear away. Keep going strong matey.

Now look now, I'm crying. I'm a teacher. The year after the worst of Covid in South Africa, was tough. When the lyric video of this came out in October 2021 my Grade 3's used to sing it every morning. I still know all the words, but somehow I've never seen the music video. Goosebumps all the way.
