Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Color" by Various Cold Heat - Heavy Funk Rarities 1968-1974 Vol. 1 promote the idea of standing up for something meaningful in life. The song's main message is about not falling for anything but instead supporting real values that matter. The chorus repeats this message several times and urges listeners to stand for life, truth, love, power, and the self.

The song isn't explicitly political or social, but it does touch on significant issues that are still relevant today. The lyrics encourage us to have convictions and to stand by them instead of being swayed by external forces. The message is especially impactful when we consider the social and political climate of the 1960s and 1970s, when the song was likely written. During this time, many people were fighting for civil rights and against the Vietnam War, and these lyrics can be seen as a call for action during that era.

Overall, the message of "Color" is an inspiring and powerful one, inviting the listener to think carefully about what they stand for and to hold those beliefs close regardless of what others may say. The song encourages us to be strong in our convictions and to not let others bring us down or sway us with empty promises.

@emilzatopek8241

I can not quench your thirst for this stuff how good they are!
Truly brilliant. Thanks Music-Man!

@breakfreak3181

I got this album. It's a great selection of dirty underground funk. When I first got it I played it constantly for ages! Good liner notes as well - highly recommended. Hard to pick highlights out of a whole album of solid stone grooves, but 'The Stretch', 'Loaded To The Gills', 'Go For Yourself' and the title track, 'Cold Heat', are dutty stank! I also recommend the Funk Drops collections.
