Founded in 1999 by Jessi Frey and O.D., Velcra's innovative industrial rap-metal became known in Finland's music scene. They soon signed to Virgin Records to release a full-length CD.
In 2002, Velcra released their debut CD, Consequences of Disobedience. The singles "Can't Stop Fighting" and "My Law" helped the band rise to #5 on the Finnish charts. Velcra also released single CDs for the songs "Big Brother" and "Test Animals".
In 2005, the band released their second full-length CD, Between Force and Fate, and the single "Our Will Against Their Will" hit #3 on the Finnish charts. Since then, the band has made two more music videos, one for "Memory Loss" and one for "The Bong Song". Between Force and Fate is unlike Consequences of Disobedience in that the band dropped the catchy pop choruses from their music altogether. This gives the album a much heavier sound, which is evident in songs such as "For My Loneliness I Pay".
In June 2006, drummer Mikko Herranen left the band to be with his other band, Rust.
Velcras last album, Hadal, was released 30.5.2007 in Finland and iTunes worldwide.
Current line-up is:
Jessi Frey (vocals),
O.D. (beats/programming),
DJ Freak (keyboards/sampling),
Ville "Ramonius" Hartonen (bass guitar),
Timo Hänninen (guitar)
Their last gig was at Nosturi, Helsinki 18.10.2008. Soon after that they disbanded.

On your own totally naked
I wanted to be a house wife for a little while
And get all that out of my system
And then, well, I knew that there was something missing'
Unrealistic, paper bag insulation
Dirty laundry, in daylight
Smugglers, burglars
Pushed back the limitations
Healthy, envy
Disappointment raffle
Finish their meal and grow bigger
The core cools down and gets thicker
Demolition setback, time will tell
If to live our lives is to burn in hell
Lighthouse gaze, peephole information
Life insurance, instant transformation
Contemplation
Suffocate the ripe the faint
World war program
Pocket size solution
What a perfect life, we lied
In a naked light we hide
Sacrificed in an unknown land
The flowers died in our hands
"Then you know I kinda... you know showed everybody"
What a perfect life, we lied
In a naked light we hide
Sacrificed in an unknown land
The flowers died in our hands
Finish their meal and grow bigger
The core cools down and gets thicker
Demolition setback, time will tell
If to live our lives is to burn in hell
In the first verse of Velcra’s song ‘Memory Loss,’ the singer is talking about becoming an adult and experiencing independence for the first time. They describe feeling naked and vulnerable, standing on their own for the first time. They admit to wanting to play the societal role of a housewife, but realizing that something is missing. This verse conveys the complex feelings and confusion many young people feel when they are transitioning into adulthood and deciding what they want out of life.
The rest of the song is a series of seemingly disconnected images and ideas that are strung together. The lyrics touch on themes of societal pressure, compromise, and sacrifice. The lines “healthy envy, disappointment raffle” could imply that we live in a society that encourages people to be envious of one another and sets them up for potential disappointment. The final lines of the song ask if the trials of life are ultimately worth it or if it leads to damnation, “If to live our lives is to burn in hell.”
Overall, ‘Memory Loss’ is a haunting and reflective song that contemplates the challenges of life and the societal pressures that can influence the decisions we make.
