Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup consisting of Guns N'R… Read Full Bio ↴Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup consisting of Guns N'Roses members Slash (lead guitar), Duff McKagan (bass, backing vocals) and Matt Sorum (drums, backing vocals), alongside Dave Kushner (rhythm guitar) formerly of punk band Wasted Youth, and Scott Weiland (lead vocalist) formerly of Stone Temple Pilots. The band formed in 2002 and was active until 2008, when Weiland left the band abruptly to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots.

In 2004, the band achieved commercial success with their debut album, Contraband. Despite positive reviews, some critics initially described Velvet Revolver as a mere combination of Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N'Roses, and criticizing them for a "disconnection" between Weiland and the rest of the band. With their single "Slither", they won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. The band released Libertad in 2007, driven by the release of the single "She Builds Quick Machines", and embarked on a tour with Alice in Chains.

In April 2008, Weiland was fired from Velvet Revolver and reunited with Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver was put on indefinite hiatus and in November of that year, requested to be released by their record label RCA Records to allow themselves "complete freedom to go through whatever process it would take to accomplish" replacing Weiland.

Although Velvet Revolver worked on new material and auditioned new singers following Scott Weiland's departure, the band has not released any new material and only performed publicly once since 2008, when they reunited with Weiland for a one-off reunion show on January 12, 2012, at a benefit concert. This proved to be their last performance together before Weiland's death on December 3, 2015. Slash and McKagan later rejoined Guns N' Roses in 2016. On December 3, 2015, Weiland was found dead on his tour bus around 9 pm, one day before he was to perform in Minnesota with his band the Wildabouts, which ended the possible reunion. Both Slash and McKagan rejoined Guns N' Roses in 2016.

Sadly Scott fell to pieces one last fatal time. This song is still haunting and powerful 7 years later. Scott's voice and Slash's beautiful guitar riffs create a masterpiece rock ballad which stands the test of time. Velvet Revolver one of the last great rock bands. Gone but never forgotten, Scott.

Growing up in the 80's -90's, I was a huge STP fan. I was very lucky to see them while touring in the SF bay Area in the early 2000's. Something I will always cherish as I believe this was one of their last times on stage together. ♥

+Muzikrazy213 Scott, Levon Helm, Steve Perry, and maybe David Coverdale are the only singers I have ever heard who sound better live than they do with studio magic. Even as utterly fantastic as singers like Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury and Chris Cornell are, they don't sound nearly as good live as what they sound in studio. Scott, and very few others, however, sounded absolutely amazing live. Let me add in T. Graham Brown, as well, as one who sounded tremendous live, even better than in the studio. Though since he's an old-timer country artist, not too many know about him. I remember being a teenager and everybody losing their shit over Nirvana's Unplugged in New York performance. It's okay; I enjoy listening to it. But I think it really paled in comparison to STP's Unplugged. And to hear Scott sing Interstate Love Song live, where he goes more melodic with it -- it's one of the best voices in rock and roll to hear him live, so I agree: As a fan, I don't know WTF this dude's even talking about.

I love this video. Its actually full of love, unconditional love for Scott. It actually gives me the warm and fuzzies. I think this might be the first video that has ever made me cry. I know the song but never watched the video until recently. Duff carrying Scott out in this totally plausible situation is just heart wrenching. And just knowing the feeling of his wife and his band mates seeing the EMTs and stretcher coming in, always worried it's your loved one. Damn! Tesla was the last concert I went to with my wife before she died from cancer. They played several cover songs, including Thank you by Led Zeppelin, which we sang to each other as they played it. I'm grateful for the best times of my life with her!

Duff himself has been through some shit just being with GNR and the drugs associated with that band but he had to watch 2 of the 90's greats pass. He was on a plane talking to Kurt Cobain just days before he killed himself and Duff knew there was something wrong. Then he had to watch as Scott had his struggles and later die after the band was dissolved.
