Often abbreviated to "Vsnares" – Funk's distinctive style reflects unconventional time signatures and extremely rapid and erratic rhythms. Unpredictable and stimulating, the effect is intense.
Funk's first release was "Greg Hates Car Culture", an EP for the History Of The Future Label, followed by "Salt" for Zhark and "Fuck Canada // Fuck America" with Stunt Rock for CLFST. When Mike Paradinas heard "Greg Hates Car Culture", he immediately signed Funk for Planet µ. Prior to this, he self-released material on cassette tape as early as 1992.
The first Venetian Snares LP on Planet µ "Making Orange Things" (a co-production with Speedranch), dropped in early 2001; following in short order were 5 more releases, all released before the end of 2002. Funk continued recording for a variety of labels, including Hymen, Addict, and Sublight Records, and has also recorded as snares, Snares Man!, BeeSnares, Ventriloquist Snakes, Puff, Last Step and Senetian Vnares.

Wasn't you the type to mimic what you saw on TV?
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you heard on CD?
You never wanted to work you wanted everything easy
You heard Venetian Snares and you said, "That's me, easy!"
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you saw on TV?
You never wanted to work you wanted everything easy
You heard Venetian Snares and you said, "Gentleman"
Gentleman (x2)
I'm here 'cause I'm fucked
In the fucking shit pool
Somebody jumped in my computer server
And took the information out
Come on!
Gentleman
Yo!
Gentleman
Come on!
Gentleman
Come on!
Gentleman
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you saw on TV?
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you heard on CD?
You never wanted to work you wanted everything easy
You heard Venetian Snares and you said, "That's freaky!"
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you saw on TV?
Wasn't you the type to mimic what you heard on CD?
You never wanted to work you wanted everything easy
You heard Venetian Snares and you said,
Come on!
Gentleman (x2)
Come on!
Gentleman
Come on!
Gentleman
Come on!
Gentleman (x2)
The song "Gentleman" by Venetian Snares seems to be a commentary on the influence that media has on individuals and their desires for an easy life. The repetition of the lines "Wasn't you the type to mimic what you saw on TV? Wasn't you the type to mimic what you heard on CD?" suggests that the singer is addressing someone directly, someone who has based their expectations and aspirations on what they have seen and heard in popular media. The accusation of not wanting to work or put in effort reinforces this idea, and the mention of Venetian Snares may be a jab at the individual for thinking that they can achieve success and fame easily by mimicking the artist's style.
The latter half of the song seems to switch focus to a more personal situation for the singer. The line "I'm here 'cause I'm fucked" suggests that they are in a difficult situation, possibly due to someone infiltrating their computer server and stealing information. The repetition of "Gentleman" in this context could be seen as a plea for someone to step up and do the right thing, to act like a gentleman and help them out of this mess.

Another great thing on it all being so random. All you remember is the experience so you can hear it thousand times and enjoy it like the first time, it makes no difference.
