Throughout 2009, as work on the album progressed, Vernian Process sought out additional members in order to play shows to support the upcoming release of Behold the Machine, as well as record new material for future albums. Zarate joined in 2009, followed by Fargo, Figueroa, and Thomas in the latter half of 2009 and early 2010. They also feature Erica "Unwoman" Mulkey on most of their live performances. In early 2011 Free Fargo left the project, and a few short months later drummer Eugene Dryer III joined in his place.
Behold the Machine was released on October 1, 2010.
Vernian Process' musical influences range from Post-Punk/New Wave, Prog-Rock, Classic Industrial, Darkwave, Deathrock, Trip-Hop, Dreampop, Cabaret, Neo-Classical (and many more) filtered through a dimly lit Victorian lens. At times, epic, militant, and mechanical. While equally pastoral, serene, uplifting and positive when it chooses to be.
Vernian Process attempts to address collective human issues in the context of a dark, and whimsical 19th Century setting.
The project has featured guest contributions from Pasha Smith, Mitzi Jones, Malcom Schreeck of the Victorian Synthpunk band Unextraordinary Gentlemen, and Allison Curval of the group The Clockwork Dolls.

In silence
Don't walk away
In silence
See the danger
Always danger
Endless talking
Life rebuilding
Walk
In silence
Don't turn away
In silence
Your confusion
My illusion
Worn like a mask of self-hate
Confronts and then dies
Don't walk away
People like you
Find it easy
Naked to see
Walking on air
Hunting on rivers through the streets' every corner
Abandoned too soon
Set down with due care
Don't walk away
In silence
Don't walk away
The song "Atmosphere" by Vernian Process is an emotionally intense song that describes the complex and difficult emotions people go through when they face danger, confusion, and self-hate. The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as it urges the listener to confront their fears and not walk away in silence when they face danger. The repetitive use of "In silence" suggests that the singer is struggling to express his feelings and is afraid to speak out. The second verse continues this theme, highlighting the confusion and self-hate that can arise in times of danger. The line "Your confusion, My illusion, Worn like a mask of self-hate" suggests that the singer is struggling to understand his feelings, and is projecting these feelings onto others. The chorus repeats the idea that people should not walk away in silence, highlighting the importance of standing up for oneself and confronting one's fears. The last verse shifts the focus to the people around the singer, describing how some people find it easy to face danger while others struggle. The final line "Don't walk away in silence" is a final plea to the listener to be brave and not hide their emotions.
Overall, "Atmosphere" is a powerful and emotional song that encourages the listener to confront their emotions rather than hiding them away in silence. The song is a reminder that it is okay to ask for help, to share your feelings with others, and to confront your fears. The song's lyrics are beautifully crafted and convey a sense of vulnerability and honesty that is rare in contemporary music. The song's haunting melodies and hypnotic rhythms perfectly complement the lyrics, creating an atmospheric and other-worldly experience that draws the listener in.

Oh angel, dear child
Come with me, as we glide
‘neath the willow trees.
Come, come away
To a place we can stay
Away from the World
Today…
Down, down, down we go
Down a rabbit hole
They won’t understand
What I hold most dear
As we sail through
A sea of tears
Someday I’ll be gone
Will they leave you alone?
The Thames will carry me home…
Who are you?
Who…
…are…
…you?
“Children three that nestle near
Eager eye and willing ear
Pleased a simple tale to hear
Long has paled that sunny sky
Echoes fade and memories die
Autumn frosts have slain July
Still she haunts me, phantomwise
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes
Children yet, the tale to hear
Eager eye and willing ear
Lovingly shall nestle near
In a Wonderland they lie
Dreaming as the days go by
Dreaming as the summers die
Ever drifting down the stream
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life, what is it but a dream?”
Down, down, down we go
Down a rabbit hole.

In the future, if my writing takes off, I genuinely want this to be the theme for a novel I’m writing - it’s got a LOT to do with Alice in Wonderland (and you’d better believe this song is in its playlist, haha)!
