Throughout 2009, as work on the album progressed, Vernian Process sought out additional members in order to play shows to support the upcoming release of Behold the Machine, as well as record new material for future albums. Zarate joined in 2009, followed by Fargo, Figueroa, and Thomas in the latter half of 2009 and early 2010. They also feature Erica "Unwoman" Mulkey on most of their live performances. In early 2011 Free Fargo left the project, and a few short months later drummer Eugene Dryer III joined in his place.
Behold the Machine was released on October 1, 2010.
Vernian Process' musical influences range from Post-Punk/New Wave, Prog-Rock, Classic Industrial, Darkwave, Deathrock, Trip-Hop, Dreampop, Cabaret, Neo-Classical (and many more) filtered through a dimly lit Victorian lens. At times, epic, militant, and mechanical. While equally pastoral, serene, uplifting and positive when it chooses to be.
Vernian Process attempts to address collective human issues in the context of a dark, and whimsical 19th Century setting.
The project has featured guest contributions from Pasha Smith, Mitzi Jones, Malcom Schreeck of the Victorian Synthpunk band Unextraordinary Gentlemen, and Allison Curval of the group The Clockwork Dolls.
Unhallowed Metropolis
Vernian Process Lyrics

There's blood in the streets and there's nowhere to run
Through darkest night they rise once again
Spreading the plague and terrorizing man
We're not alone (we're not alone)
We'll make our stand, we're not alone
In this unhallowed land, we're not alone (we're not alone)
Through this madness and strife, we're not alone (we're not alone)
And we'll wait for the dawn, we're not alone
But our city is gone
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Our time is short
Our time is nigh
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
We've had our chance
Lord knows we've tried
Nowhere to run...
Abominations plague our streets
There's no surrender, and there's no retreat
But beyond London's walls, the wasteland awaits
Where unholy creatures prowl at our gates
The Death Watch have always held them at bay
While mad men work by the Tesla array
Our metropolis has fallen, our city is gone
There's death in the streets and nowhere to run
A necropolis has risen, the old world is dead
There's no hope in our hearts, a new Dark Age ahead
We're not alone (we're not alone)
We'll make our stand, we're not alone
In this unhallowed land, we're not alone (we're not alone)
We'll fight for our lives, we're not alone
Through this madness and strife, we're not alone (we're not alone)
And we'll wait for the dawn, we're not alone
But our city is gone (gone)
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Our time is short
Our time is nigh
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
We've had our chance
Lord knows we've tried
Nowhere to run...
Nowhere to hide...
The lyrics of Vernian Process's "Unhallowed Metropolis" depict a post-apocalyptic world where the old world has collapsed, and the new world is inhabited by various abominations and monsters. The first verse sets the tone and describes the chaos and fear among the people who have nowhere to run. The following lines suggest that a new dawn has come and that humans must stand up to fight against the monsters. In the second verse, the lyrics describe the struggles of people who are trapped in London, where death and destruction reign. The Death Watch keeps the unholy creatures at bay while mad scientists try to find a way to overcome the monsters. However, these attempts are in vain, and the people are left with no hope.
The chorus repeats that humans are not alone and must fight for their lives, even though there is no hope. The lyrics suggest that the city is no longer the same, and the world has turned into an unholy land. The last lines of the song infer that the end is near, and there is nowhere to run or hide.
