Built to Fail
Veto Lyrics

Some kind of a present.
I was giving you
'though your more than i discern.
And i was put in to give you
Everything that you need.
But instead i do
Whatever it is i please.
And i was built to give you
More than i do now.
And i was built to show you
More than i do now.
And i was put in to give you
The world on a platter.
But instead i just sit here
And do nothing that really matters.
And i was built to give you
More than i do now.
And i was built to show you
More than i do now.
And i was put in to give you
The world on a platter.
But instead i just sit here
And do nothing that really matters.
You lift me up from
The world of falling.
You kept me going and this is how i thank you. (x11)
The lyrics of Veto's song "Built to Fail" explore the theme of failure and a sense of inadequacy in one's ability to live up to expectations. The song is structured around the idea of being "built" to do or give something, but ultimately failing to meet those expectations.
The lyrics begin by referencing a present that the singer is giving, but suggests that it is not enough for the intended recipient. The singer acknowledges that they were put there to give everything that the person needs, but instead they do what pleases them, indicating a sense of selfishness and a lack of fulfillment in their role.
The chorus repeats the phrase "And I was built to give you more than I do now" to emphasize the singer's perceived failure to meet expectations. The line "And I was put in to give you the world on a platter" highlights the pressure they feel to perform at an exceptionally high level.
