We are so lost. After 40-50 years we are still gossiping about current affairs instead of addressing and solving our foundational concerns.

Tony Brown eloquently expressed what should be our primary concern -- the Black family structure -- and we glossed right over it.

Who is running for president, how they get their money, the merging of HBCUs with white colleges, and social programs mean nothing if our family structures aren't fixed and we don't learn to create real communities.

As far as I'm concerned, that's all we should've been talking about then, and it's all we should be talking about now.

If you and three others are kidnapped and put into a dungeon, in the dungeon you would not be talking about current affairs and what you all saw on the news last night. You'd only be talking about solving your collective problem (How to get out of the dungeon?).

Likewise, because fixing the Black family is the most important aspect of our liberation, that is all we should talk about.

I was 9 years old when this aired. As I got older shows like this went right over my head. So funny how comedy, music, and tv shows took more precedence over truth and knowledge back for me back then.

I miss Tony Brown's Journal. That brother was always on point & thorough. Shows like Tony Brown, Gil Noble & Listervelt Middleton are desperately needed today.
