In 1995, his tribute to Mexico's beloved Trio Los Panchos, Recordando A Los Panchos, earned him considerable acclaim and produced two major hits, "Miseria" and "No, No, Y No."
He owns and primarily lives in a huge ranch named 'Los Tres Potrillos" located between the cities of Guadalajara and Chapala Jalisco, Mexico. It was named after his three sons. It is complete with stables, 2 houses, a lake, high bred horses and a church. During Christmas time thousands of children go to this ranch where hundreds of thousands of dollars in Christmas gifts are given out.
He loves miniature horses and has bred them at his ranch, where he even has some as small as 6 inches.
In 2005, Fernández and his sons, Alejandro and Vicente Jr., made history by becoming the first Latin American singers to appear as cartoons in a video, for Vicente Sr.'s song, Al Mayor de los Fernandez (To the Oldest Fernández), dedicated to Vicente Sr.'s father.
Vicente has been married to Maria del Refugio Abarca Villaseñor since December 27, 1963. He has three sons with her: Vicente Jr, Gerardo, and Alejandro. His fans and the media refer to him as "Chente", a diminutive of his name out of affection but in interviews and events he is also addressed as Don Vicente out of respect. In Mexico he is referred to as "El Rey" (the king) and as "El Charro de Huentitán" (the Charro of Huentitan). His wife is affectionately known as Doña Cuca. Vicente, just like his son Alejandro, is notorious for being a ladies man and is often called a Don Juan. [1]
Vicente was involved in a scandal when it was made public that he had maintained a relation for ten years with Patricia Rivera, whom he met in 1977 while filming "El Arracadas". Years later she declared that her son, Pablo Rodrigo, was a product of that relation and Vicente recognized the son as his, giving him the Fernandez name. Afterwards DNA testing proved that Pablo was not his son.[2]
In 2004, while in concert in Miami's American Airlines Arena, Vicente had to pay $30,000 USD for having gone over the original scheduled time for the concert. He sang for three hours some of his all time hits as well as songs from his then new album "Se Me Hizo Tarde la Vida".[3]
Vicente has a star in Hollywood's Walk of Fame and his ceremony there was attended by over 5,000 people, breaking all previous attendance records.[4]
Vicente retired in 2016 in a massive concert in Estadio Azteca, Mexico city.
He fell from a horse in his rancho in august 2021, causing a rapid decline in his health. Vicente Fernandez, one of the greatest mexicans to ever live, passed away on December 12, 2021, from complications related to his fall.

No logro acomodar mis sentimientos
Y el alma se me sigue consumiendo
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu maldito amor
Y ya pa' qué quiero la tumba
Si ya me enterraste en vida
Ajaja, ay
No quiero que regreses nunca, no
Prefiero la derrota entre mis manos
Si ayer tu nombre tanto pronuncié
Hoy mírame rompiéndome los labios
Por tu maldito amor
No puedo terminar con tantas penas
Quisiera reventarme hasta las venas
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu maldito amor
No logro acomodar mis sentimientos
Y el alma se me sigue consumiendo
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu maldito amor
Por tu bendito amor
The lyrics of Vicente Fernández's song "Por Tu Maldito Amor" (For Your Damned Love) are from the perspective of a man who is consumed by his love for a woman who has betrayed him. He begins by acknowledging that he fell in love with her at first sight and acknowledges that he is still in love with her despite her deceitful ways. He sings about how she managed to deceive him and make him lose his mind, indicating that he fell into her trap with great naivete. The singer then reveals that she has gone back on her promise to love and cherish him, leaving him feeling profoundly disappointed and forgotten. He is struggling to come to terms with his feelings as he can't seem to get her out of his head, which leads him to feel trapped in his own misery. He makes it clear that her love has caused him a great deal of pain and that he wishes he didn't love her as much as he does as it consumes him to the point where he considers committing suicide. However, the tragic irony of it all is that he still loves her and cannot let go.
The song expresses the universal theme of heartbreak and the intense emotions felt when one is betrayed by someone they love. It highlights the pain and anguish that come with being cheated on and the struggle to move on from a relationship that has hurt you deeply. The melody and the lyrics are powerful and emotive, capturing the rawness of the pain the singer feels, making the song a timeless classic.

El día que te encontré, me enamoré
The day I met you, I fell in love
Tú sabes que yo nunca lo he negado
You know that I've never denied it
Con saña, me lograste enloquecer
You cruelly drove me crazy
Y yo caí en tu trampa ilusionado
And I fell into your trap, full of illusions
De pronto todo aquello se acabó
Suddenly, it all ended
Faltaste a la promesa de adorarnos
You broke the promise to love each other
Me hundiste en el olvido por creer
You left me in oblivion because I believed
Que a ti no llegarían jamás los años
That age would never catch up with you
Por tu maldito amor
For your damn love
No puedo terminar con tantas penas
I can't end so much pain
Quisiera reventarme hasta las venas
I want to burst until my veins explode
Por tu maldito amor
For your damn love
No logro acomodar mis sentimientos
I can't sort out my feelings
Y el alma se me sigue consumiendo
And my soul keeps consuming me
Y ya pa' qué quiero la tumba
And what do I want the grave for
Si ya me enterraste en vida
If you already buried me alive
Ajaja, ay
Hahaha, oh
No quiero que regreses nunca, no
I don't want you to ever come back, no
Prefiero la derrota entre mis manos
I prefer defeat in my hands
Si ayer tu nombre tanto pronuncié
If I pronounced your name so much yesterday
Hoy mírame rompiéndome los labios
Today, look at me breaking my lips
Por tu bendito amor
For your blessed love
