We Shall Behold Him
Vickie Winans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The sky shall unfold, preparing his entrance
The stars shall applaud him with thunders of praise
The sweet light in his eyes shall enhance those awaiting
And we shall behold him, face to face

We shall behold him
Yes, we shall behold him
Face to face in all of his glory
We shall behold him
Yes, we shall behold him
Face to face, our savior and lord

The angels shall sound the shout of his coming
The sleeping shall rise from their slumbering place
And those who remain shall be changed in a moment
And we shall behold him then face to face

We shall behold him
Yes, we shall behold him
Face to face in all of his glory
We shall behold him

Yes, we shall behold him
Face to face, our savior and lord

Overall Meaning

In Vickie Winansโ€™s song, โ€œWe Shall Behold Him,โ€ she sings about the second coming of Jesus Christ. The sky will unfold and prepare his entrance as the stars applaud him with thunders of praise. This is a metaphorical way of describing the glory and power that will accompany Christ when he returns. The sweet light in his eyes will enhance the look on the faces of those who have been waiting for him, and they will finally have their chance to see him face-to-face.

The song speaks to the ultimate hope that Christians have: seeing their savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, face to face. The chorus repeats this idea in a powerful way, emphasizing that this will be a moment of beholding him in all of his glory. The verse also plays with the idea of the resurrection of Christโ€™s followers, as those who have died will rise from their slumbering place alongside those who are still on earth, and they all will be changed in a moment. This speaks to a Christian belief in the power and glory of the second coming of Christ, which will be a moment of great transformation and fulfillment.

This Song ๐ŸŽต is the Hope of the Believer

Have heard Sandy Patti, David Phelps, and now Vickie Winans

Each one has done superb rendition

My father passed away 7 years ago last week

A year later on the same day, Billy Graham joined him

Both men were preachers of the gospel message of salvation

February 2024

Can't wait to see You again Dad

Stood behind Your pulpit in that little country church in Mills NE

The same one where You stood in 1962 for three years

We made it to 2024!! Still listening! In 2006 I was diagnosed with cancer and had to endure 6 months chemo. When my treatments were completed I would go to my oncologist every month.

The tumor is shrinking
2nd month it's getting smaller
3rd month 2 centimeters it shrunk
4th month I was feeling some type of way. The sky was brighter, the sun appeared to smile! I put a CD in and this song popped up! I lost it. I was so overwhelmed. I got out of the car to visit my oncologist and you got it! "It's gone you're cancer free!" I will always love this song. It's my testimony โค

I was saved to this song in 2000, but went astray. I'm listening now and my stage 4 cancer, all the cancer on my spine, in my lungs, the tumor in my back are ALL GOING TO BE HEALED in the name of JESUS CHRIST, I am going to throw out my hospital bed & get up and WALK in the name of Jesus. And I hope everyone listening to this has God move in their situation & heals their cancer, sickness, disease, depression, arthritis, suicidal thoughts, etc, and all their loved ones get a move too.
WE SHALL BEHOLD HIM! ๐Ÿ’“ I love all reading this! If you're feeling it, just tell me back!

It's 2023 and I'm still listening to this song. Only Vickie Winans can sing this song under the mighty Anointing of God.

Nobody sings this song like Vickie Winans. Every time I hear her rendition I feel like the sky is gonna open up and Jesus is gonna come out on a white horse
