Close My Eyes
Victor Nebot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Only for a moment
And the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, in curiosity
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever, but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The lyrics of "Close My Eyes" by Victor Nebot speak of the fleeting nature of life, and how everything that we are, everything that we work for, is ultimately insignificant when faced with the inevitability of death. The first verse metaphorically illustrates how our dreams come and go just as easily as we open and close our eyes. The second verse compares human life to dust, pointing out that no matter how important or permanent we try to make our mark on the world, it all inevitably crumbles in the end. The final verse is a call to make the most of the time we have, knowing that both our lives and earthly possessions will eventually slip away.
The chorus repeats the phrase "dust in the wind," driving home the message that everything we know, love, and cherish is ultimately just a tiny particle in an infinite universe. The song's lyrics challenge us to consider how we view success and fulfillment in life, and encourage us to embrace the impermanence of existence rather than fight against it. The song by Victor Nebot is a reflective reminder that our time is limited, and that we should make the most of every moment.

I close my eyes
I take a moment to reflect
Only for a moment
But the moment is fleeting
And the moment's gone

Flashing by, making me wonder
Dust in the wind
Our existence is temporary
All we are is dust in the wind
We are impermanent beings

Imagine this:
You open your eyes, without any guidance you see that you are on the roof of a train, while the breeze blows over your face and your hair flies you look around you noticing a beautiful natural landscape, a meadow, a mountain, everything is extremely beautiful, train wheels crashing into the tracks can not be heard completely, which gives a huge calm. Thanks to the wind in front of your face and the tranquility of the environment forces you to close your eyes.
It only remains to enjoy the moment and nothing else ....
Postscript: That's what I imagined when listening to this video.
