Can we talk about the camerawork and the transitions on this music video?
They are absolutely phenomenal!
The transitions in this music video are absolutely stunning! I especially love when we get that first "through their bodies" transition & shot, at 0:58 the camera moves us between their bodies, and suddenly we are in this gorgeous mountain scenery, as the camera rotates we are taken upside down and all around in this world, matching the feelings & mood of the song, of being taken through deeper emotions and feelings.
Being moved and transitioned to new experiences.
1:44 the transitions begin again, this time moving through their jawline as they are kissing, only instead of moving INTO the shot, we actually pull OUT of the shot into a new one. SUPER clever, we're going the other direction now.
Right after she says "This your motherfucken moment" is when we get these zooms and transitions, like she is transitioning & moving in to the experience, and receiving him.
Then at 1:58, we transition again, this time between their feet/legs. THIS transition is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! The plants come and move out, flowing in the wind between their legs. We don't just flatly move into this new world, this time the world creeps out in 3D between them, as we move into it.
& Again we are going forward with the camera.
So we went in, then out, then in again in these transitions. Which is very cleverly aligned to the themes of intimacy & sex in this song.
