Since Women's dissolution, the members of the Calgary band have gone on to form various projects, and this includes Viet Cong. Formed in 2012 The group features Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace from Women, along with Daniel Christiansen from Sharp Ends and Scott Munro from Lab Coast/Reuben and the Dark.
Following a scattering of live shows, their debut EP "Cassette" was released in 2013. The songs bear some resemblance to Women, with sounds ranging from the atmospheric psych folk of "Static Wall" to the jangling haze of "Unconscious Melody," the garage-y bounce of "Throw It Away," the jagged experimentalism of "Structureless Design" and the moody sprawl of "Select Your Drone." In 2015, Viet Cong released their eponymous debut album.

And walk through the neon streets
That stand over mutant lips on Japanese hips
Swelling, screaming, "It's a deranged enhancement"
Deflated amplifiers overdeveloped in incompetent ways
Slowly, slowly fall through the snow so softly
Know where at all we're going
Know where to go
Go where, go where fluorescent primates teem
And walk through the neon streets
That stand over mutant lips on Japanese hips
Swelling, screaming, "It's a deranged enhancement"
Deflated amplifiers overdeveloped in incompetent ways
What side are you on, man?
We look the same
I know eventually you'll tell me where you came from
You'll tell me where you came from
You'll tell me where you came from
You'll tell me where you came from
The lyrics of "Bunker Buster" convey a sense of disorientation, uncertainty, and awe at the bizarre and futuristic world in which the singer finds himself. The opening lines, "Go where, go where fluorescent primates teem / And walk through the neon streets / That stand over mutant lips on Japanese hips," evoke a psychedelic, surreal landscape that is both alluring and unsettling. The use of the animalistic metaphor of "fluorescent primates" and the image of "mutant lips on Japanese hips" suggest a world where nature and culture, reality and fantasy, are in constant flux and collision.
The chorus of the song, "Swelling, screaming, 'It's a deranged enhancement' / Deflated amplifiers overdeveloped in incompetent ways," creates a sense of dissonance and chaos that reflects the singer's disorientation and confusion. The use of the word "enhancement" implies that the technological marvels of this world are not necessarily benign, but may have a sinister quality. The image of "deflated amplifiers" overdeveloped in "incompetent ways" suggests a world where technology has gone awry and become dysfunctional.
The final verse of the song, "What side are you on, man? / We look the same / I know eventually you'll tell me where you came from / You'll tell me where you came from / You'll tell me where you came from / You'll tell me where you came from," is a plea for connection and understanding in a world that seems alien and hostile. The repetition of the last line creates a sense of urgency and desperation. The singer seeks a sense of belonging and identity in a world where everything is in flux and the rules have yet to be written.
