Let it be known
That I, without doing anything,
Had thrown it all away
Down the laundry chute,
All the cute little words and melodies
Won't save me now
Now that we've gone this far
We've said goodbye
Said goodbye
Goodbye to grace
I, was waiting for a witness
And you, were waiting
For the door to open up
To set you free from this mess
You turned your back
Said "you don't know
Anything about love"
You said goodbye
Said goodbye
Said goodbye to grace
We, washed ourselves
Clean of all feeling
We were feeling good,
Until we both got scare
Of ourselves and of each-other
We bailed out
We don't live here anymore
We said goodbye
Said goodbye
Said goodbye to grace
In the song āGraceā by View, the lyrics explore a strained relationship between two people who have lost their sense of grace. The opening lines suggest that something has gone wrong, and the singer has thrown everything away that they once held dear. Itās unclear why this has happened, but the implication is that the singer has done something regrettable, and the other person in the relationship is aware of it. The use of the laundry chute as a metaphor is interesting, as it suggests a sense of disposability and an intention to discard something without a second thought.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of waiting and anticipation. The singer is waiting for a witness, perhaps someone to affirm their worth and validate their actions. The other person is waiting for a way out, a means of escape from the mess that this relationship has become. Both people are stuck in a cycle of longing for something that they canāt quite grasp. The line āwe washed ourselves clean of all feelingā suggests that they have done whatever they can to move on from each other, but itās not enough.
In the end, the separation is inevitable, and they say goodbye to grace. Grace is a complex concept that encompasses qualities like kindness, forgiveness, and humility. By saying goodbye to grace, they are essentially saying goodbye to all the good things that were once present in their relationship. Itās a powerful message that conveys the idea that sometimes, relationships can be irreparably damaged, even when both people involved desperately want to save it.

Love it, as an Aussie we always cop shit about our accent and I always hear bands from Scotland, England, Ireland etc who sing completely different to how they talk. Good on ya boys for staying true to who you are, great song and though I don't understand all the words, I am sure I will pick them up with a few more listens to you blokes! Great job, well done!!!

Cant actually find the words to describe how much i love this band. The song is amazing and if its not in the charts then there's seriously something wrong.
