I'm a Loser
Vince Guaraldi & Bola Sete Lyrics

I'm a loser
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Of all the love I have won, and have lost
There is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry?

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

What have I done to deserve such a fate?
I realize I have left it too late
And so it's true pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Vince had a way with covering a song and making it unique, even digging deeper into its expression in his heartfelt playing.

This is actually how I found out about The Beatles version. I don't think anyone could capture the essence quite like Vince.

"El Matador" (a Vince original) and "People" are also superb tracks from this LP. Jobim's "Favela" (on the flip side w/ guitarist Bola Sete) is absolutely mesmerizing.

This Guaraldi cover of the Beatle's song is, in fact, the greatest recording ever made.

Only Vince could pull this off. It changes the song as did his improvement on ... Yes.. Cast Your Fate to the Wind... Thanks for posting this . If not I would have to go to my friends place twist his arm into letting me dig through his boxed collection and play his LP on a turntable I don't have. :)

"Cast Your Fate to the Wind" is Vince's original composition.

This is just beautiful.
