Vineyard Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Stretching a mile high
Take a look at the ocean
Far as your eye can see and think of me
Take a look at the desert
Do you feel like a grain of sand?
I am with you wherever
And I'm always thinking of you
Take a look around you
I'm spelling it out one by one
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more
Just a face in the city
Just a tear on a crowded street
But you are one in a million
And you belong to me
And I want you to know
That I'm not letting go
Even when you come undone
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more
I love you more
Shine for me
Shine for me
Shine on, shine on
Shine for me
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more
Than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you, yesterday and today
Through the joy and the pain
I'll say it again and again
I love you more
I love you more
And I see you
And I made you
And I love you more than you can imagine
More than you can fathom
I love you more than the sun
And you shine for me
The lyrics of Vineyard Music’s song “More” speak about God – the way He sees us, loves us, and is always present with us no matter where we go or what we do. The verse opens up with the stunning images of mountains, oceans, and deserts that remind us of the vast beauty of the world that God created. The message is clear that wherever we may find ourselves, God is always with us, watching over us, and thinking about us.
Furthermore, the lyrics communicate that we are not just random beings, but are deliberately created and treasured by God. He sees us as unique individuals, one in a million, and we belong to Him. The song reassures us that God’s love is unconditional, and He never lets go of us even when we fall apart.
The chorus repeats the message of God’s love that shines brighter than the sun and stars that He created. His love is eternal and endures through all our struggles, joys, and pains. The song concludes with a reminder that we shine for God too, who loves us more than we can imagine or fathom.

More than oxygen I need Your love
More than life-giving food
The hungry dream of
More than an eloquent word
Depends on the tongue
More than a passionate song
Needs to be sung
More than a word could ever say
More than a song could ever convey
I need You more than all of these things
Father I need You more
More than a magnet and steel
Are drawn to unite
More than poets love words
To rhyme as they write
More than the comforting warmth
Of sun in the spring, yeah
More than the eagle loves wind
Under its wings
More than a word could ever say
More than a song could ever convey
I love You more than all of these things, anything
Father I love You more
Your children are crying out,
Yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yes, Father we need You, we need You
Oh, We need You, we need You
More than a blazing fire
On a winter's night
More than the tall evergreens
Reach for the light
More than the pounding waves
Long for the shore, oh yeah, yeah
More than these gifts You give
I love You, I love You more
More than a word could ever say
More than a song could ever convey
I love You more than anything
Father I love You more
Yeah
This is
This is the song of a fatherless generation
Crying out
Oh yeah
Oh, Father we need You, we need You
More than oxygen
More than a magnet and steel
Yeah, we need Your love
Your love
Release the Father's love
So the children can play

The line where he says:” this is a song of a Fatherless generation crying out” is so powerful to me—this current generation has been completely robbed of the knowledge of God.

yes. and this line - which sounds like a holy spontaneous word - spoke to me, put a spiritual seed and burden in me to go to seminary and write a book called Fatherless Generation that Zondervan released in 2010. it was from this line, from this song I heard in the 1990s.
