Their partnership started in 1970, when Vinicius invited Toquinho to participate in a series of live performances in Buenos Aires with the brazilian singer Maria Creuza.
Known also from his partnership with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Carlos Lyra and Francis Hime, Vinicius worked with Toquinho until 1980, when he died. Together, they composed a remarkable number of hits: Tarde Em Itapuã, A Tonga da Mironga do Kabuletê, Regra Três, Aquarela (released after Vinicius death).
