Combining their love for original soul and rhythm & blues, the two set up a basic home studio in Venice Beach and started crafting the beginnings of Vintage Trouble. Already a friend of both, Rick Barrio Dill (bass) came along and added his shared bass influences and energy into the newly formed project. To make the band complete, Richard Danielson (drums) was recruited not long after to add the authentic and edgy take that was needed on the drums. With these collective energies and inputs in place, a new kind of soul band had been born with unlimited creativity and force.
The power foursome then moved to commune, create and rehearse amongst the famed musical lore of Laurel Canyon. Within two weeks of rehearsals in early 2010, the group quickly began playing local shows and late night speakeasies. Led by timeless vocal tone and presence, small tweed amps, and a mission to move as many people as possible, the band quickly gained a reputation as a high energy and truly mesmerizing live act whose performances feel like down-home revivals with an uptown edge. Sticking to their roots of mid-century original soul music and recording techniques, the band used a lean three-day recording session with full takes and no-frills to turn out 12 new songs a mere two months into the project. With singles like "Gracefully", "Nancy Lee", "Still & Always Will" and "Blues Hand Me Down", the resulting sound brings you back to the days of vinyl records, sweaty juke joints, and the feel and essence of the original soul movement.

I am a VT super fan & I LOVE this track...it's testament to their talents that they can cross different genres & deliver an eclectic selection of new music for us fans. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I prefer the sentiment "if you haven't got anything good to say, don't say anything at all"

I like it, and I feel it's very well done for what it is....and I know that artists have to evolve....but I just feel like a little bit of what makes you guys super unique is a little lost on this track. Still think you guys are the best thing going, though.

This is the first one I've heard by them. Could you explain what makes them 'super unique'? Aside from the people who are entirely butthurt about an apparent change, the comments seem to indicate that the band absolutely rocks, so I'm curious what's unique. I totally plan to listen to more, but it's always nice to hear the fan/ listener analysis, ya know?

This is the complete opposite of "evolving"...

Great bands evolve and grow in their songwriting, lyricism and performance. Personally speaking, I love that this song that demonstrates such evolution... a modern R&B song with deep roots in the juke joint vibe that VT specializes in. I'll admit to being a middle aged dude that has an affinity to all genres of music, regardless of when it was recorded... but for as much as I enjoy this song what makes this song special is the connection it allows me to make with my ultra modern, millennial daughter. In her words... "It's a jam."
Rock on, boys. Stay true to your music and we'll see you next time around.

Absolutely love it! Although the sound is very different from what I have come to associate VT with, the song made me want to dance and put a smile on my face. Keep them coming guys :)

Have heard this song performed live a few times now and it's great. Adds to the mix

i actually really enjoyed this!! as a new VT fan myself, i think the fact that it's more poppy than their old music could bring tons more new listeners who will then fall in love with the rest of the band's music like i have. plus, this is just one track off the new EP. I'm excited to see what direction they take the rest of the tracks in :)

It won't bring "tons more new listeners" because this kind of music is run of the mill, average generic pop music which already exists 100000000x out there, while with their former sound at least they were unique and authentic (or so we thought).

First one I've heard and I've already subscribed to this and the French channel! Thank you for being so positive! Reading through the comment thread and seeing so many negative comments is so disheartening when there's nothing whatsoever wrong with the track, just a bunch of butthurt people not wanting to allow a group to express themselves the way they want.
