'Cause I can see you're a liar, and you're lying to me
The lyrics to Violet Indiana's song "Liar" are about a person who feels betrayed and lied to by someone they trusted. The repetition of the phrases "Don't touch me," "Don't speak to me," and "Don't look to me for sympathy" emphasize the depth of the hurt caused by this betrayal. The singer sees through the lies and deception of the person in question, and despite having previously believed in them, cannot bring themselves to trust or engage with them anymore. The phrase "La la la la la la la la liar liar" is a taunt towards this person, possibly indicating the singer's anger and frustration at being deceived.
The chorus of the song continues in this vein, with the singer rejecting any further communication with the liar, and repeating the phrase "Don't speak to me" as a clear boundary. The repetition of the phrase "I trusted you," punctuated by the line "Don't speak to me," further emphasizes the deep disappointment and hurt that comes with being lied to.
Overall, "Liar" is a powerful and emotionally charged song that speaks to the feelings of hurt, betrayal, and disillusionment that can come with discovering that someone you trusted has been lying to you.
