The duo released the "Choke" EP on Bella Union, the label run by Guthrie and former Cocteau mate Simon Raymonde late 2000. Their highly-acclaimed debut album "Roulette" followed in 2001 on Instinct. A singles collection, "Casino", followed in early 2002 (Instinct). "Russian Doll", their official sophomore album was released in 2004 on Bella Union and represents a great artistic leap. Guthrie and De Mare have honed their song-writing partnership to create a flawless collection of sublime pop moments, ranging from desolate torch songs through to hypnotic summer lullabies.
While continuing his work with Violet Indiana, Robin Guthrie remains active on many fronts. 2003 saw the release of Imperial, his debut solo album, which was both a critical and commercial success. More recently he has been collaborating with Ulrich Schnauss and also Harold Budd, with whom he is writing the soundtrack to the new Gregg Araki film, Mysterious Skin. He has also created a short animated film, Lumiere, which he has performed as an interactive musical piece at various multi-media festivals across Europe.
According to Robin Guthrie's weblog, the duo have been in the studio working on new material.
Touch Me
Violet Indiana Lyrics

You say you are just thinking
Nothing that you want to share with me?
Do you still care?
Where is your heart?
Just tell me
Is there someone else?
Don't you want me?
What's the meaning of your silence?
Could this be the end?
There is no time for conversation
You don't even touch me
Where is your heart?
Just tell me
Is there someone else?
Is there someone you're loving?
Don't you want me?
Do-dooo-doo-doo-a-do-dooo-do-do
What's the matter with your expression?
You say you're just thinking
Nothing that you want to share with me?
Do you still care?
What's the meaning of your silence?
Could this be the end?
There is no time for conversation
You don't even touch me
The song "Touch Me" by Violet Indiana is a melancholic and reflective exploration of a relationship that is on the brink of falling apart. The lyrics are addressed to a partner who has become distant and uncommunicative, leaving the singer wondering about their feelings and whether they still care. The first verse sets the tone for the song, as the singer asks "What's the matter with your expression?" and wonders if there is something that the partner is keeping from them. They express a desire for openness and honesty, asking "Nothing that you want to share with me? Do you still care?"
The chorus of the song is a repetition of the central question of the relationship, "Where is your heart?", and deepens the sense of uncertainty and unease. The singer wonders if there is someone else in the partner's life or if they have fallen out of love. The second verse continues this theme, asking "What's the meaning of your silence? Could this be the end? There is no time for conversation, You don't even touch me". The repetition of the first verse at the end of the song gives it a circular feeling, as if the singer is caught in a loop of unanswered questions.
Overall, "Touch Me" is a tender and affecting song that captures the feeling of being trapped in a relationship that is not fulfilling. It conveys a sense of longing for connection and intimacy, while also acknowledging that sometimes relationships fall apart and there is nothing that can be done to save them.
