Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playin in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on your face
You big disgrace
Kickin your can all over the place

We will rock you
We will rock you

Buddy you're a young man hard man
Shoutin in the street
Gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on your face
You big disgrace
Wavin your banner all over the place

We will rock you
We will rock you

Buddy you're an old man poor man
Pleadin with your eyes gonna make
You some peace some day
You got mud on your face
You big disgrace
Somebody gonna put you back in your place

We will rock you
We will rock you

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are a part of the iconic song, "We Will Rock You" by the British rock band, Queen, released in 1977. The song was written by the band's lead guitarist, Brian May, and is considered one of the most well-known stadium anthems of all time. The song is basically an anthem that calls out to the people who are walking on the streets, regardless of their age, status, or background.

The first paragraph focuses on a young boy who is playing in the streets and is destined to become a "big man" someday. The imagery of him having mud on his face and kicking his can all over the place signifies his carefree nature as a child. But it also lets us know that he is bound to be criticized by society because he doesn't conform to societal norms. The chorus "We will rock you" is a call to the rest of the people to stand up, take notice of the boy and rock the world together.

The second paragraph is about a young man who is shouting on the streets and has the potential to take on the world someday. He has blood on his face, which signifies that he is determined and won't back down. He is waving his banner high, which lets us know that he is proud of who he is and isn't afraid to show it. The chorus once again calls people to take notice of him and to rock the world with him.

The final paragraph is about an old man who is pleading with his eyes to make some peace in his life. He has mud on his face, which means that he has seen and experienced a lot of difficult situations in his life. But despite it all, he is still a big disgrace. This line could signify that old age hasn't diminished his spirit or that society's harshness has made him that way. Somebody is going to put him back in his place, which could mean that older people are often disregarded and deemed irrelevant in society. Once again, the chorus calls on everyone to join together to bring about change, because together, they will rock the world.
