Of the phone last night
I left my head by the side
Of your bedside light
I can't sleep
'Cause I'm cutting my teeth on you
'Cause I'm thinking about
But I don't work
No, I don't work
And I've got a car
But I don't drive
So I'll see you on the other side
I make my bed on the floor
Where I stood last night
I make my bed in the glow
Of the morning light
I can't sleep
'Cause I'm cutting my teeth on you
'Cause I'm thinking about
'Cause I've got a job
But I don't work
No, I don't work
And I've got a car
But I don't drive
So I'll see you on the other side
I want, you want him dead
She said, nothing at all
I want, you want him dead
She said, nothing at all
I want, you want him dead
She said, nothing at all
Nothing at all
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
'Cause I've got a job
But I don't work
No, I don't work
And I've got a car
But I don't drive
So I'll see you on the other side
So I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side
The lyrics of Viva Brother's song "Otherside" conveys the idea of a man who is unable to remove himself from the thoughts of a woman. He has left his head by her bedside light and is unable to sleep because he is "cutting his teeth" on thoughts of her. He mentions having a job and a car but not truly "working" or "driving" (possibly metaphorical for being successful and in control of his life). The repetition of the line "So I'll see you on the other side" implies a desire to be with her, possibly in a new phase or realm of their relationship.
The chorus is catchy and highlights the main message of the song - the singer's inability to let go of his fixation on this woman. The use of repetition in the verses give the impression of obsessive thoughts, with a determination to overcome the situation by seeing her on "the other side". The repetition of "I want, you want him dead, she said nothing at all" towards the end of the song seems to suggest that there are complicating factors in the singer's pursuit of this woman, perhaps a third party involved.
Overall, the lyrics of "Otherside" tap into the universal experience of unrequited love and obsession, with a simple but effective melody and catchy chorus that captures the essence of the song.
