Vive la Fête was founded in 1997 when Danny Mommens (then still a member of dEUS) met Els Pynoo at a party hosted by or for her sister. Mommens had previously been an acquaintance of Pynoo's sister, who had photographed Els nude and later shown the picture to him. In a 2005 interview, Els recounted that Mommens had approached her in a casual manner and randomly remarked, "Hey, I saw you naked!" Mommens recorded a few demos with Pynoo on his 8-track recorder, which were later released as the EP Je ne veux pas (also referred to as Paris). The EP gained attention for its resemblance to '80s new wave music.
Their first major success came with their debut album, Attaque Surprise (2000). Subsequent records such as République Populaire (2001) and Nuit Blanche (2003) increased their popularity, particularly in the fashion world, where Karl Lagerfeld became a fan. Lagerfeld invited them to perform at several of his major shows in New York City and Paris.
In 2005, they released the album Grand Prix and toured extensively across Europe, while also performing shows in Brazil and Mexico.

Vive La Fête Lyrics

Haut les mains!
Et tais toi!
Regarde en bas et tais toi!
C'est un casse,
Haut les mains!Regarde en bas et tais toi!
Ma machine n'explique pas
C'est un truc comme ça
Je suis la fille d'un bandit et j'en ai marre
Ma mitraillette fait "tic tac toc"
Electrochoc (X3)
[Chorus]
2005 les numéros
10 millions et trois euros
Voilà un pétard
J'en ai marre
Ce bruit métallique
Je t'explique
C'est un truc comme ça
Comme ça (X2)
électrochoc(X6)
The lyrics of Vive la Fête's song 2005 appear to describe a robbery or a heist. The phrase "c'est un casse" translates to "it's a heist" and the lines "raise your hands" and "look down and shut up" suggest that the artist is speaking from the perspective of a criminal. The lines "my machine doesn't explain it, it's a thing like that" could mean that the singer's weapon is difficult to explain or understand. It's worth noting that throughout the song, there are a lot of references to violence and weaponry, such as "my machine makes tic tac toc" and "here's a dynamite stick, I'm fed up".
The chorus of the song refers to the numbers 10 million and three euros, which could be interpreted as the amount of money that the robbers are hoping to steal. There's a sense of desperation in the song, with the artist expressing frustration and anger ("I'm the daughter of a bandit and I'm fed up") and using violent language ("electroshock") to convey their emotions. Despite the dark themes of the song, the driving beat and pulsing synth lines give it a danceable quality that encourages listeners to move to the music.
