The musical combination is pretty surprising too! Groups like the Klaxons might be getting lauded for their originality these days, but never forget that Vive La Fête were some of the first to dare to merge two seemingly incompatible musical trends and make of them something wild.
Vive La Fête is kind of like, if you took an 80’s pop sample, a bit of cold wave, the best kind of electronica, a smidgen of rock and the voice and lyrics of 60s French songstresses under the influence of Serge Gainsbourg… and then shook them all up. The resultant cocktail is one hell of a unique explosion! A true shot of pure eroticism. Add the fact that Danny and Els are hot with an innate sense of sexy showmanship (Make up? Check! Costumes? Check! Energy? Check!) success had to be just round the corner…
After their first full albums (2000’s Attaque Surpriseand 2001’s Republique Populaire ) Vive La Fête were soon spotted by Karl Lagerfeld, who went on to declare himself their number one fan! He convinced them to do the music to accompany the 2002 Chanel shows in Paris, Tokyo and Las Vegas, were invited by the Royal Family of Monaco to play at their prestigious Bal De La Rose and played hip clubs and cool festivals worldwide. They quickly gained media and public recognition with their outrageous live show and honest music. Then came more albums ( Nuit Blanche in 2003, Grand Prix in 2005, Jour De Chance in 2007), and tours and releases all over the world, and passion ... wherever they go.
With every new album comes a new live show ! VLF plays all major European festivals like Roskilde, Gurten, Benicassim, Arvika, Lowlands, Paleo, Pinkpop and was invited to play at the prestigious Montreal & Montreux Jazz Festivals.
Check them out if you get the chance, Vive La Fête live is lots of positive energy on stage and very rock’n roll.

Love Me Please Love Me
Vive La Fête Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Je suis fou de vous!
Pourquoi vous moquez-vous chaque jour
De mon pauvre amour?
Love me, please love me,
Je suis fou de vous!
Vraiment prenez-vous tant de plaisir
Si j'en crois votre silence,
Vos yeux pleins d'ennui,
Nul espoir n'est permis.
Pourtant je veux jouer ma chance
Même si, même si
Je devais y brûler ma vie
Love me, please love me,
Je suis fou de vous!
Mais vous, vous moquerez-vous toujours
De mon pauvre amour?
Devant tant d'indifférence,
Parfois, j'ai envie,
De me fondre dans la nuit.
Au matin, je reprends confiance
Je me dis, je me dis:
Tout pourrait changer aujourd'hui.
Love me, please love me,
Je suis fou de vous!
Pourtant votre lointaine froideur,
Déchire mon coeur.
Love me, please love me,
Je suis fou de vous!
Mais vous, vous moquerez-vous toujours
De mes larmes d'amour?
The lyrics of "Love Me Please Love Me" by Vive La Fête express the yearning of a person for the reciprocation of their love by someone towards whom they feel intense feelings. The singer of the song pleads with their beloved to love them back, expressing their feelings by saying "I am crazy for you" and confessing their sorrow and pain caused by unrequited love. Despite the other person's indifference towards them, the singer still believes that there is a chance for their love to be returned and is willing to take the risk of getting their heart broken in the process. However, the lack of response from the other person is tearing them apart, leaving them with a heart full of tears.
The song's lyrics are poignant and heartfelt, evoking emotions of sadness and empathy in the listener. The use of French language adds a touch of sophistication and romance to the song, making it even more captivating. The overall theme of the song is universal, as everyone has experienced the feeling of unrequited love at some point in their life, and can relate to the emotional turmoil that comes with it.
