I had the great good fortune to work with Dr. Ussachevsky from 1972 until his death both at the University of Utah and Columbia, orchestrating and copying a number of his instrumental works. As a mentor and friend he was a generous and gentle man. His great talent and ability, as well as his humor, is evident. He loved making up limericks, too.

He was indeed a very "generous and gentle man," he bought me my first beer! I was one of his Univerity of Utah students.

I had the good fortune to study with Dr. Ussachevsky as an undergrad at Columbia in 1969. A very generous man, indeed. He gave me an "A" on a paper comparing the Grateful Dead to Luciano Berio.

Vladimir was my Uncle. I fondly remember him growing up in Los Angeles. You were very lucky to have him as a Instructor. His favorite dish in New York, "Uncle Volva" told us were a big generous bowl of sauteed Trout Cheeks :-)

Your uncle was a fantastic composer and more people should know his music and how indebted many composers are to him.

When i was a young lad...I think it was sometime between 1964-66, my Dad took my brother and I to a lecture at Bridgeport University at which Dr. Ussachevsky, played us several of his, Otto Luening's and Edgar Varese's work, also explaining some of the aspirations, and inspiration behind electronic music, as well as the evolution of the equipment that could be used to create it. With a tape recorder and a couple of "code Practice" oscillators, built from a few elec parts, I was hooked , and a life journey was on its way. Listening to this,... again, he was an amazing Artist, Teacher, and creator with so much vision!

Somptuous ! This is a great work of a great composer I discover with strong admiration. I love the slow motion of luminous spaces that travel in the refined substance of this composition ! Something absolutely singular !

Now this is what I call music.
