I can't stop re-listening. And I noticed that no matter what kind of mood I have, this song and this singing is always able to go through my heart that is surrounded by my anxiety and depression.

"belt at soprano range" isn't a valid statement. While the difficulty you're speaking of, it isn't anywhere near a soprano range. The note at 2:52 is closer but in choral music as a genre, it's typical tenor stuff.

I woke this Sabbath morning 26.02.22 to this amazing spiritual, Nearer to God. And with 😭 I realized how much further I have wandered away from God and not keeping Sabbaths Holy. Born in an Adventist home, singing was a passion. I have sang in a family quartet singing tenor and I remember those times were we were asked to repeat the songs in public gatherings. Human voices are the replicates of our heavenly angels because we are the creation of God in His likeness and image. If we can render such beautiful amazing tunes, then just imagine how 10,000 angels voices would sound like on Sabbath in Heaven worshipping and giving praise to the Most High.

Became interested in playing my cello again after many years. Also at the same time we finally found a church we like. Was looking for hymns to transpose and this one popped up. Couldn’t remember where I’d heard it and it slammed me the next morning. However, you can't make the claim that they aren't honoring God with whatever music they choose to use. To say that beats are "worldly" is in my opinion something you can not and would never be able to support as being biblical. I would encourage you to step off your highhorse and consider that God is a lot larger than you or what you consider "yours". He is worshipped by all and the worship of him isn't dictated by what you think (thank you God).

Just wanna share an experience that I would never forget when I was still a university student. I would go to the church every Sunday for a morning mass and after the priest's sermon it was time for a hymn and everybody would stand up. And right when the choir started singing, I heard an unfamiliar harp music that I was practically looking back and front to find its source and it's indescribable, so out of the world sound of harp playing as if thete was a choir of invisible angels singing along. My hair was all standing as I listened to it intently. I tried searching for a similar harp sound in youtube afterwards and a few weeks in but nothing ever sounded like it. I'd like to believe that they came down from heaven just to say hi :)

Interesting! Christianity is the act of following Christ's teachings. We believe he was the Son of God and that he died and rose again for us. Christianity offers forgiveness for all, although we have rebelled against God, so that we can be in a relationship with him.
Jesus taught to love all, be pacifistic (a lot like you) and to glorify God in all that we do.

Was in a bad place when I first heard this but couldn’t help to keep this on loop at the time. It showed me that reconnecting with your faith/spirituality is possible and it never fails you if keep working at things. Peace is only know by confessing your sins and believing in your heart that God loved man so much He became a man, Jesus. He lived a perfect sinless life yet was crucified on the cross for our sins. He was buried, but on the 3rd day He arose and defeated death. No one enters the Kingdom of Heaven except through accepting the Son, Jesus. Good works doesn't save but are rather a result of faith in Jesus. Man can do nothing to save himself. If so, it's a cruel joke that Jesus died on the cross for our sins as it would have been unnecessary if man could do anything to save himself from sin.

I honestly don't think many other song come close or quite compare to this song. I really feel that these gentlemen sung with reverence, praise and yearning to feel what was sung.
I could not feel or see anyone trying to look good or cool. It was just about the words and the harmony, and that made it all so powerful...

I grew up in a Baptists church so this song was played a lot. I was one of those people that only went to church because that's what a good southern girl does, but I never really believed in the whole God thing, but now that I've gotten older and have experienced life without church and God; I've realized that I needed him in my life. This was the song that was on the radio when I did finally giving my life to God. This song saved my life and I thank God everyday for it.

Sometimes when someone gives their life to GOD, the devil tries to throw negatives situations toward them to discourage them.
