Magic
Voices in Your Head Lyrics
From the back of your big brown eyes
I knew you'd be gone as soon as you could
And I hoped you would
We could see that you weren't yourself
And the lines on your face did tell
It's just as well
You'd never be yourself again
Saw you last night
Dance by the light of the moon
Stars in your eyes
Free from the life that you knew
You're the magic that holds the sky up from the ground
You're the breath that blows these cool winds 'round
Trading places with an angel now
Saw you last night
Dance by the light of the moon
Stars in your eyes
Free from the life that you knew
Saw you last night
Stars in the sky
Smiled in my room
I knew you'd be gone as soon as you could
And I hoped you would
We could see that you weren't yourself
And the lines on your face did tell
It's just as well
You'd never be yourself again
Saw you last night
Dance by the light of the moon
Free from the life that you knew
You're the magic that holds the sky up from the ground
You're the breath that blows these cool winds 'round
Trading places with an angel now
Saw you last night
Dance by the light of the moon
Stars in your eyes
Free from the life that you knew
Saw you last night
Stars in the sky
Smiled in my room

Lost my Dad more than 8 years ago now, and this song will always be what reminds me most of him.
His last few months were hospital, rehab, and hospital.
In the end, I think his big brown eyes had had enough. I still miss him and remember feeding him and kissing him on his forehead.

15 years later, this is still one of my favorite arrangements ever

Thank you so much!!

God, this is so bloody amazing! I love how the male and female voices compliment one another so. I can't help cry everytime I hear this. Brilliant job to all.

This is easily my favorite track on the CD, and my favorite rendition of this song. Their interpretation is spot-on, from the haunting introduction to the angelic entrance at 2:53. Perfectly written, perfectly arranged, perfectly performed.

My high school choir is doing this song for a concert. I'm so excited! The first time my teacher played it I literally could not close my mouth, it sounded so amazing. AND I get to sing the high soprano part, which I think sounds angelic. Of course, our choir won't sound this good, but it is still going to be awesome. I am going to audition for the female solo, and I hope I get it. Wish me luck!

Samantha Shepherd did you ever make the solo? ❤️

@@anniyoung8254 Yeah, did she?

The baritones send shivers down my spine!

I'd heard this song on the album many times and always thought it was OK. Then I heard this version today.
Haunting and beautiful, I finally gave it the attention it deserves, and only now realized it's one of the best songs written about mixed feelings after losing a loved one. Sometimes it's a relief, which can almost make you feel even worse. Life is often bittersweet, joy and sorrow at once.
A fresh take can breathe new life into a good song that was waiting to get out. Things like this often go unnoticed. I wish they got discovered more often.
