I think there is a more fitting caption:

Behold, how the just die:
and no one takes heart;
The just men are stolen away,
and no one comprehends.
Away from the face of iniquity,
how joyful are the just:
and in peace will his remembrance be.

In peace is his dwelling
and in Zion his house.
And in peace will his remembrance be.

This motet was performed by Johann Sebastian Bach as part of Good Friday Vespers at the principal churches in Leipzig (after the Passion).
These are my videos with movements from Bach's St Matthew Passion:

And similarly from his St John Passion (all chorale movements and some arias):

Beautiful music: thanks so much adding the English translation as well!

Deeply elegant and semantically aware performance. Vocally outstanding group, of low and dignified male voices. Bravi!

Yoda approves.

Seriously though, as I was reading captions spontaneously I began re-translating in my mind, aiming for a bit more archaic poetry effect, till I run into your comment.. which felt almost like running into mirror unexpectedly. Bo!whoindahell... oh, that's me. %)

Except ofc, it's not me, even if I've actually finished my thing, not to mention put it on paper, published it, won the inevitable lawsuit of yours against me ... khrmm <.<
Very good translation, love it.

Except both 'justus moritur' and 'sublatus est justus' are in the singular, instead of the plural, and 'sublatus', being the suppletive perfect passive participle of 'tollo', means 'raised' or 'taken away', not 'joyful' (which is 'laetus').

Thank you! Due to a temporary computer glitch, I was not able to open the video description. I have ordered the CD of this outstanding ensemble. Thanks for including this performance on your channel ! .
