Alaskans
Volcano Choir Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Last time that I saw you
You had me housed up on your red red rum
Stranded in the housing
Of our moving house and

We were gonna hit every port
And every cape town
We were gonna give a full report, of sorts
To your mother up in kabo and her new cohort

Damn
Can't believe your father left his land
The creed
To cry
Rely, rely, rely, rely
Behave, behave, behave, behave
Spend all of that time not wanting to

Climbed up on your carpet
There's a car pit in our minds were in
Shameless and humming
Like a violent strumming

We were gonna hit every mark, in stark
But the sutra didn't suit ya that long day in the park
I'm talking about it
Talking real love
I wanna re-up
On that love

Damn
Can't believe you left me on the lam
To be seen
To be scribed
I'll tell you now tha' you
Rely, rely, rely, rely
Behave, behave, behave, behave
Spend all of that time not wanting to

Rely, rely, rely, rely
Behave, behave, behave, behave
Decide, decide, decide, decide
Repave, repave, repave, repave

(Can't believe you hardly understand)

Inside, inside, inside, inside
The lathe, the lathe, the lathe

Overall Meaning

The first verse of the song talks about the last time the singer saw the person they are addressing. The person, who had previously captivated the singer with their "red red rum," is now causing them to be stranded "in the housing of our moving house." The next lines talk about their plans to hit every port and cape town to give a report to the person's mother in Kabo and her new cohort. The second verse expresses the singer's disbelief in the fact that the person's father left his land and ends with a repetition of the phrases "rely, rely, rely, rely" and "behave, behave, behave, behave."

The third and fourth verses continue to describe the relationship between the singer and the person they are addressing. The two were going to hit every mark but the sutra didn't suit the person. The singer talks about wanting to "re-up" on that love and expresses their disbelief that they were left "on the lam" to be seen and scribed. The song ends with more repetition of "rely, rely, rely, rely" and "behave, behave, behave, behave" and introduces the new phrases "decide, decide, decide, decide" and "repave, repave, repave, repave." The last line of the song is "inside, inside, inside, inside the lathe, the lathe, the lathe."

The lyrics of the song seem to be about a relationship that has gone wrong. The person the singer is addressing seems to have left them stranded and alone, causing them to express disbelief and confusion through their repetition of certain phrases. The lyrics also contain imagery related to movement and reaching certain goals or landmarks, which could represent the hopes and plans the two had for their future together.
